No. Perfect pitch is something you are born with (99% of the time) and just because you have perfect pitch doesn't mean you can sing in perfect pitch. As long as you understand and can hear relative pitch and be relatively in tune you can sing "a capella" and be on pitch, even if you don't have perfect pitch.

To me, having perfect pitch would be a burden because anything I hear that is slightly out of tune would be distracting and bothersome. The average ear cannot detect such subtle differences in pitch - which is a good thing. Music is far from perfect, but can sound amazing despite very small pitch variations from the perfect A440 tuning.

*edit: Knowing the names of notes has absolutely nothing to do with having perfect pitch. Perfect pitch is to have perfect identification of the intervals and frequency of notes. People with perfect pitch recognize the differences not by the names but by the way it feels, sounds, or however else they identify.

Also, like mentioned by other answerers, there are many ways to train your ears. In many cases people without perfect pitch can be better musicians than those with.
But NOTE: You can train your ears to have great relative pitch, however you can NOT train your ears to have perfect pitch.

Perfect pitch is a very difficult thing to acheive. You can sing acapella without having perfect pitch, you just need to stay in tune to do it. Perfection is perfection. Sing your heart out!

Singing high notes can often end up being embarrassing for some people who have yet mastered the skill. The reason singing these notes can be so hard is because it requires the use of an area of our voice which is not used often in our day to day lives. This is why if you are just starting out it is so difficult. The biggest problem most singers have when singing these notes is caused by tension in the larynx and lack of focus in the resonators. To sing high notes properly, you need to release the tension to make a more resonant sound. Here are some tips on how to sing high notes much more easily.

The first step is to make sure you warm up your voice. Like runners do when they stretch their muscles, you should also prepare your voice for what is about to come. If you have every got up and just started to run without warming up your muscles, you know how painful it can be. The same is true for warming up your voice. You can warm up your voice by simply humming or sirening. You'll have a much greater chance of hitting those notes if you always perform your warm up routine before you start singing.

No, just like any part of your body, your ears can be trained.

Vocalists train their voices.
Football players train their body.

Go from there how people train their bodies to do unbelievable things.

There is a program out there called "Perfect Pitch"
It trains your ears to hear correctly.

This is from my knowledge and not promotional, but this is the site i was talking about.

Hope this helps
