Well i have heard sprinting uphill is the best way to imrpove overall speed. I bought a new 2-story house with stairs. So will spriniting upstairs have the same effect? Track season is soon and i want to do the 100m and 200m dash. And please put a good reason why sprinting stair is effective. Thank you

sprinting up stairs does increase speed cause you learn how to move your feet faster and more precise per step. I ono if steps in your home work the same way when i ran steps they were usually like stadium stairs cause there were so many of em like between normal stairs there are little steps. the object was to hit every step up not just get up the hill so the faster you can do that the faster your steps thus faster you can run. running up conventional steps may help strengthen your legs but you need more than a couple flights. cause you will have to run back down them to reset. thats wasted motion and time. If you got a local school auditorium with fixed bleachers or a gym with fixed bleachers id do my stairs there

I can't say whether sprinting up stairs will make you faster in the 100 & 200m dashes, but I suspect you would have some positive results. The problem with that is that it is high-risk. YOu could misstep and break an ankle or foot, induce knee-joint and/or arthritis problems, etc.

Why not study and practice getting out of the blocks rapidly and efficiently??? You can also do repeat sprints to improve your form and speed bursts.

Do the stairs if you must, but I'm just not convinced the benefits outweigh the high risks involved.

Good Luck

Running up stairs will increase your speed a little bit, but the most important thing to do is sprint drill. They are tiring and boring, but the most important thing that a sprinter can do. Micheal Johnson wasn't the strongest runner, but his technique is flawless. Running down hills helps because your body gets used to moving faster and naturally sprints

You can use the stairs as a part of your program.
It is good to run stairs or stadium bleachers.
One flight is not very many steps. You can do bench steps holding dumb bells also.
If you exaggerate your stride, that is bring your front leg up so that the thigh is parallel to the ground and you are on your toes of the back leg each time you drive up you are working your glutes, quads and calf muscles.

Unless you have massive stairs. Otherwise, it won't have the same effect. It will be uneffective.
