Illegal immigrants in the United States get free food, free medical care, free educations, subsidized housing, & their children born here are automatic U.S. citizens. And it all comes at the expense of the hard working American taxpayers. I know that most illegal immigrants live hard lives filled with poverty, & that most of them are hard workers. It must be hard to be a poor Mexican man who can't support his family. But that doesn't make it ok to enter the US illegally. I can't condone their actions, & I don't feel sorry for them.

This is big-time desensitization. We're losing our sense of outrage over having 10 to 15 million illegal aliens basically invading our country. We're being desensitized to the fact that illegal immigration is illegal – it's a crime, remember? People who, for whatever reasons, don't want our immigration laws to be enforced, use the word "undocumented" instead of illegal. And – this is critical – the news media complete the sales job by picking up the label and using it on us day in and day out.

Have you noticed how the phrase "illegal aliens" has morphed into "illegal immigrants," then "undocumented immigrants," then "undocumented workers," even "guest workers"? My gosh, "undocumented guest workers" – that phrase is so positive, it makes me feel like moving out of my house and letting them just move in. Poor "undocumented guest workers" – undocumented must mean they lost their documents, and they're our guests, and they're working hard – I mean, what could be better than that?

Desensitization. When you hear this kind of rhetoric day after day, before long you lose your sense of outrage, you just get worn down. Worse, you start to believe it. Intimidation is a powerful force, and most of us don't know how to deal with it without giving in one way or the other. If enough people are saying illegal immigration is good, it must be true, right? Remember what psychologist William James said: "There's nothing so absurd but if you repeat it often enough people will believe it."

Now, here's another technique that comes in really handy – in fact, it's essential – It's called lying. To make bad stuff look good, you have to lie about it.

That is how and why some support illegal aliens, some are the liars, and some are believing the lie.

Illegal immigrants are a threat to the american way of life. This country was built on principles and values. Peace can not be achieve without laws otherwise there would be chaos. The law is the law. Many people choose to come here legally and they have endured pain throughout the process. it takes averagely nine to ten years to get here legally (if the applicant is not US citizen). How come someone that has been here illegaly for nine or ten years should be granted legal documents despite legal candidate are still in line overseas. If you wish to defend the illegals for humanitarian reason, that is Ok. But , what about those are suffering overseas, those who believed the legal way is the most guaranteed way. May God bless and rewarded them too !!!!

Because Liberals want to reform the government into a socialism style government (like in Mexico). They know that the majority of the vote wins elections. The bottom 50% of Americans receive or is close to receiving free food, free medical care, free educations, subsidized housing. And it all comes at the expense of the hard working American taxpayers. If more people depend on the government the liberals will accomplish their agendas. Some of the americans who receive these benifits and/or wants to agrees the government needs to give people what they need, instead of earning it themselves.

First off I don't believe people should come here illegally, and I believe if you are here illegally you should be sent back. But all the illegal aliens I've met (allot) work in regular paying jobs, same type that I work. By the way I've never been at a loss for work. See now hiring signs all over the place. They don't know that they can get free medical care, free food, free educations, or subsidized housing. I'm sure if you could explain how they would like to know. They don't work for cheaper wages (they don't have too and their not stupid). Many of them tend to pay more taxes than the average American, because they not only pay property taxes and taxes on purchases they make, many of them are on the books at their jobs and they cant file their taxes to get any money back, they also cant collect social security.

Family ties.
Cultural ties.
Business need for cheap labor.
Political interests (they are counted in the census to determine the number and distribution of state and federal representatives..and for other political advantages)
Guilty political conscience (what Santana didn't sell, we took by military force or the U.S. supported oppressive governments in their home county causing economic collapse and political turmoil).
Religious homogeneity.
And of course the gangs are always looking for new members.

None of the above justifies breaking the laws of this country or becoming a tax burden on its workers except in the eyes of our politicians.
At one time there was a very viable and working solution to this problem. The "Bracero" program implemented in the '40s, ended by Cesar Chavez and the Kennedy clan in the '60s.
The issue of the illegals has been neglected and manipulated for too long and is now a volcano waiting to erupt upon the American public.

FROM THE ARTICLE; Why We Must Fight the Misleading Language of Immigration
By Michael W. Cutler
The term "illegal alien" had been universally used by INS employees until the presidency of Jimmy Carter. It was Carter's appointee for Commissioner of the old INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service), Lionel Castillo, who mandated that the term “illegal alien” be stricken from INS official vernacular. We were admonished never to use that term but to replace it, initially with the term "undocumented alien." Several months later, this was changed by INS headquarters, and we were instructed to use the term currently favored by open borders advocates, "undocumented workers." Out of frustration I began referring to such illegal aliens as "pre-citizens!"
Just about everyone with whom I worked at the INS was similarly angered by this mandate because Castillo’s (and Carter’s) deceptive use of language was reminiscent of George Orwell's "newspeak", introduced in his political novel "1984." As I recall, the creation of “newspeak” was to eliminate words so that you could eliminate thoughts, and thus alter perceptions of reality. Never forget that words have impact.******* PLEASE TAKE the time to read the FULL ARTICLE ON THE LINK****** SAY THE WORDS ILLEGAL ALIEN OR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT AND SAY THEM OFTEN. to allow ourselves to be stripped of words, the power, the impact they hold is in this case blurring the lines between right and wrong. it will lead to the demise of law and order in our society. chose your words carefully for the impact they hold and don't use the neutered versions.

I am sure, James, that you would count me as one that "defends" illegal immigrants.

I recognize that by being here, they are committing a crime. However, not ALL of them are receiving anything free. The vast majority of immigrants are single males, so, they aren't even using our school system. I understand the economic impact and burden of having to have interpreters and similar.

But, I do feel sorry for them. It is very scary to be alone in a foreign country. I can only imagine how desperate one would have to be to leave everything behind in this manner and come somewhere that you are not wanted- to risk life and limb in the dream of a "better day". To say that these people are ONLY coming here with mal intent, is simply wrong. Some may end up using our government services and committing crimes, but, their intention was the "streets of gold" that USA is alleged to hold.

I defend them because they are human and they are often attacked on a very cruel or personal level. I DON'T defend their coming here illegally or any act that they commit that is illegal or immoral.

I, as a Christian and hippie in the wrong generation, see that people are basically good and that we all desire the same things out of life- safety, security, love and acceptance. I may wonder why someone has chosen the paths that they have in life, but, I will never hate them for it (except people that commit violent crimes- they should be catapulted).

Good luck, James- in your upcoming adventures. May God stay with you on your quest.

Several reasons:
*They could profit financially from them (these are the biggest hypocrites - pretending to care about the illegals while in actuality enslaving them to lower wage work)
*They could be related to illegals
*They could be dating an illegal
*They have visions of a fantasy world where there are no borders, and where everyone holds hands across the globe.

ignorant well-meaning do-gooders don't always take the time to actually know what they are talking about. Instead, they react emotionally...especially when some try to illicit an emotional response -- usually using children, elderly, poor or puppies somewhere in their argument.
