its stopped playing games i put discs in and it says reading disc then the msg dissapears rather than remaining continously it started with one game now it won't play any any one know whats wrong with it ?

It depends. If you have the slim one clean the laser with a q-tip and if that doesn't work it is broken. If you have one of the older large ones you can open it up (warranty is no good anyway) and clean the laser. Be carefull when you pull it apart where the power button is. There is a wire on paper htat can rip. Then there is another cover over the laser. Just be careful and put it back how you found it. I have done this several times and mine still works after 6 years.

1). Dirty lens - try to clean it up with alcohol and Q-tips;
2). Some PS2 models had a problem with a lens misalignment - call service;
3). The lens is dead - replacement needed.

That happened to me so i rang up sony and they said to stick a hoover nosole over the vent and suck the dust out but that did't work for me so they replaced it for a refurbished on for only 55£

UPGRADE! Get an Xbox 360 or something, the PS3 isn't as expensive as before, even a Wii will do good!

You might have to clean your lens with a cotton swab, or get the lens replaced. Either that or buy a new PS2 or PS3.

not come across that prob but me, my m8s, my familys ps2s are all breaking one way or another i think the company only let them work for a few years then break when the ps3 comes out so u buy that

It needs the laser cleaned or replaced.
It,ll cost about £20.
Had my sons done about two weeks ago.

your laser is broke. it costs too much to repair it. might as well buy a ps3!!!

just buy a slim then

i don;t know what is wrong but you should call the play station company. the number is in the manual.
