Yes, dogs can mourn the passing of their owners. It's like losing the leader of a pack. Some dogs will starve themselves due to the loss. If the dog isn't eating, try offering something more appealing for a few days, like canned food or hotdogs, and make SURE the dog is drinking, they can go without food for a while, but not water. If the trouble continues, I think a vet visit is in order.

It has been known to happen. The dog will go back to eating, but first leave it alone while it mourns. Don't add stress to its life by taking it out on trips. Just talk to it and pet the dog often.

Absolutely. They grow a bond with their owners, and when they owner passes away (or the dog is given away), they definitely mourn the loss.
Do what you can to try and make the food intriguing to them (mix canned food in, try a ''gravy'', chicken broth, etc.) They may eat little to none for a while, but it drags on for an unhealthy period of time, your dog may need the help of a vet to ensure he gets the nutrition he needs to thrive.

Yes they mourn. One dog in Scotland went to the train everyday to meet his master for years and years after the old mans death.
My cocker spaniel mourned the death of his buddy for several months. We tried not to even say the name or Boo would go into a funk. But he doesn't react anymore to Oliver's name....so I think he has forgotten.

yes in a way they do mourn the death of their owner. Just try to feed him a little at a time. If that dosn't work, hide food near him, if that dosn't work either give him table scraps even though it is bad for him. If nothing I reccomend works, take him to a vet immidietly. Love him too. Good luck.

Absolutely!!!! try paying extra attention to the dog and see if you can get it to take treats or anything from your hand that would make the dog feel a little extra special. Talk to it with a soothing voice and just let it know you are there and things will be ok.

Yes, they do.
The only way to relieve the stress is to be comforting. Pet your dog often and spend a little more time with him/her. Evenutally your dog will recover from this loss.

Try to maintain as much of his routine as possible. If he was walked to the corner every night at 6 pm or always fed at a certain time. He will probably look for his owner too. Just love him and he'll be ok.
