we go to crtl,alt.del, to get to new tasks,then go to internet from there. we have to shut down the hard drive to shut off. we don't have a restore disc. what can I do from the computer to restore things?

my guess is that you shut down the EXPLORER process right?
just open the "ctrl,alt.del" menu as you nicely put it, click the applications tab, choose new task, enter explorer hit enter and it should bring the desktop back.

find the programs u want on the desktop and right click on the program, send to, desktop (create shortcut) and it will show up

Go to programs and "search," search for desktop, it should come up. Also, computer tools, add/remove programs should bring it up.

On your desk top right click any where,a menu will come up chose show icons.
