Rhiannon Pagans do not say our path is better or more valid, that is what Christians do. Why are you so angry at me exorcising my right to honor the original meaning of these holy days?
Are you aware you have taken for yourself the name of a pagan Diety? Many many Wiccan women have that as a Craft name. I thought you were a wiccan by your name.

By all means, yes, let's take a few moments to honor the return of the sun! (Actually, I'm going to take a whole weekend...and then some. Holidays like this are just too good for one day!)
May everyone have a very Merry Yule!

I celebrate Christmas but know it's traditions are a culmination of winter celebrations wrapped up in an expensive bow. Although, I don't do the Christian parts cause I'm an atheist. I don't mind calling it Winter Solstice though, as that's where it all originated. Happy Winter Solstice!
I'm pretty sure it's 8 deer, not 12. I've heard several people
say 12 lately. When did that start?
I wasn't aware of the Holly and Oak Kings though. Thanks for that tidbit of info. Here's a cool link I just found that talks a bit about it: http://www.earthwitchery.com/santa.html

Yes, I agree. So?
It is like telling a 5-year-old there is no Santa and then giving her presents anyway. It confuses a non-issue.
It is also about the organized religion of Paul and the church of Rome's ability to adapt pagan beliefs onto the prevailing popular culture icons.
We still do it. How many Elvis sitings have you read about?
ETs?How many actresses are born in Uganda and not the Bronx?
Pop culture adores nonsense.
This time of year, is fun! YeaH! for fun!

It's very refreshing to regard this festivities in their deepest meaning, rather than being hammered by all the abusive nonsensical paraphernalia that distorts their true purpose.
Let's celebrate the return of the sun and the rebirth of life.

Not much room for an answer here, but we druids have known this all along. Got to cheer the people up around mid-winter.
Hauling in all these foreign gods is new, though. Mithras? Holly kings? Looks like the christians are not the first to hijack the White Goddess's celebrations.

A Blessed Solstice to you and yours. :-) And well said. I'm glad to see some Pagan pride amid all the Christian proclamations about "the reason for the season".

Thank you so much. Surrounded by those who repeatedly tell me their true meaning of the season. It is good to hear one voice today to remind me what my season is about. Blessed Yule, and may you and yours be very blessed the remainder of this year.

Praise the reborn God of the Earth. The young King of Spring to come. May his beard (vegetation) start to come in soon, and cover the earth, his wife, in warmth.
