There has been a dog that has been running around my mom's neighborhood for awhile now so I decided to keep her because I felt sorry for her & I know she has worms because she's a stray, but I wanted to know if there are any home remedies that I can do to get rid of them or at least keep them under control until I can afford to take her to a vet? And somebody told me that garlic will help them... is that true? Please help!

No. No home remedies and garlic will not worm your dog. You need to see a vet soon!!!!!!! Humans can get worm from pets!!! GROSS!

***IF you do buy store wormer, at LEAST make sure Pyrantel Pamoate is the active ingredient. It is much safer and effective than the Piprazine wormer. Avoid that!! THe best thing is to get a correct dosage from a vet, who will know what kind of parasites your dog has.

Just buy some wormer. It is about five dollars. You want any brand with the active ingredient pyrantel pamoate. You should worm her monthly. Don't spend $100 at the vet. That is just ridiculous for a product that costs almost nothing. The monthly Heartguard that you buy at the vets has pyrantel pamoate in it. Just buy it OTC and worm monthly.

Once the dog has worms youre going to have to have to get dewormer.

Garlic used in small amounts is not dangerous and can prevent worms; however, it would require a dangerously high amount of garlic to actually get rid of worms once theyre in.

No home remedies that really work. Garlic and onions can cause anemia in dogs and cats.

No, garlic is in the onion family and harmful to dogs.

Please take her to the vet as soon as you can - it is not expensive to get dewormer.

You can go to Walmart and buy liquid dewormer, it's relatively cheap, only costing a few bux, and dogs really like the taste, just follwo the directions on the bottle according to the dogs weight and will get rid of hookworms and roundworms. For the heartworm stuff I recommend the vets office, but for the intestinal type, walmart sells dewormer in the pet section, or you can go to your local pet or feed store too.
