Okay, normally I have a period every 33-38 days that last about a week, starting heavy and getting lighter after 3 or 4 days. This month I moved out from my parents house a few days after my period ended and its not due to start for a few more days to a week and a half but I've been bleeding lightly for about a week now. Its not really a period like I've had before. The only symptom I'm noticing is the light bleeding and normally I have: bad cramps, a little diarrhea, heavy bleeding, less energy, nausea, and a repulsion to certain foods (like bacon). At first I thought the light bleeding might be implantation bleeding because my boyfriend and I had a condom break a few days before the bleeding started but the bleeding has lasted more than "one or two days". I think stress might have caused an early period but everything seems backward. I have slight insomnia, I have to talk myself out of eating everything, and I get fidgety when I have to sit still for any amount of time.

My grandfather is an OB and has told me that it is a myth that you can have an early period from stress, eating, etc... The only thing that causes an early period is early ovulation. Each woman has a luteal phase length (time between ovulation and period), and it doesn't change. Mine is 12 days, so no matter when I ovulate I know my period is due 12 days later. When I awoke on day 13 with no period I knew I was pregnant without taking a test, and the doctor confirmend it the next day.

Some women think they are having a period, when it really is an early miscarriage. This is quite common.
