I owned a 742 30-06 for a on an identical time as...never had to hearth a 2nd shot interior the woods. Remington geared up a pair of semi-vehicle strikes that have been a splash confusing to take down for cleansing... the 742 substitute into one in all them...the Speedmaster 22 substitute into yet another. Any unchecked improve of crud, mung, carbon or different residues (like each that congealed oil interior... that we doused into an action with hopes it could run to the final place) will lock up any semi-vehicle action quicker or later. "5 minutes to close the action".... precisely, at what factor did you % you had a undertaking... any destiny breakage you have in this rifle would be your undertaking. in case you % to possess a designated installation, precision piece of kit learn how to maintain it. Tommy Smothers as quickly as pronounced, "if it doesnt extra healthful- tension it" and have been given the stink eye from his brother, Dickie.

This rifle has to have an adapter kit which is made specifically for your rifle. The kit requires you to drill a hole in the lower section of the rifle butt for the rear swivel. These kits may or may not be hard to find since the 742 is no longer made. I found my kit at Wal-Mart but that was 15 years ago. You might perform a search on-line for a kit. Hope this helps.
