Well, let's look at them and see.

Love God.

Love one another.

Love your parents.

Love your enemies.

Go around doing good, even if no one sees it.

Tell people there is hope if they are lost.

Nope, nothing unrealistic or phony there.

No because it all depends on the person and the religion on which they're basing the morals on.

Along the same lines that atheists can be good people and have strict morals and don't need a religion to dictate what those morals should be.

Now some religious morals - I believe are unrealistic. Killing a girl because she won't wear "proper" clothing is unrealistic. Sentencing a woman to prison because she was walking down a street with an unrelated male and was raped is unrealistic. Telling a child they're burn in hell because of "original sin" if they don't "repent" is unrealistic....

Your "question" presupposes that all principles of Christianity are unrealistic and phony. I agree with other posters:
- don't murder someone
- don't take what doesn't belong to you
- respect people like parents
- be nice to people
- do good things for others
- don't lie about other people and get them in trouble
- be faithful to your spouse and don't sleep around
- honor what you think is important
- don't use swear words that make other people uncomfortable

I think we could all benefit if everyone would abide by these "rules." Doesn't matter that they are Judeo-Christian values, they are good and they make sense.

What do you mean by "moral principles", exactly?
My church teaches morals such as no premarital sex, no alcohol, no pornography, no drugs, no immodest clothing, etc.
And I don't think those moral principles are unrealistic or phony, I think they're great. Maybe they seem unrealistic or phony to some people, but not to me.

Yeah, anyone could write a book listing what they perceive is the difference between right and wrong behavior and then go on crusades and forming lynch mobs.

Er.....um, no. Oh, sure no one is perfect, but really, not killing people and being a good honest person really isn't too much to ask of anyone.
