Anemia is treatable through various means depending on the cause. Some treatments consist of little more than dietary adjustments and exercise, but if a doctor has already seen you and prescribed you, you should see an improvement in 2 weeks.
Help yourself by following his instructions, sleep at least 8 hours a night, eat a well balanced diet rich in green leaf vegetables, beans, red meat, and drink your iron supplements along with orange juice. Vitamin C helps us absorb iron.

Anemia can be caused by bleeding ( the most common cause), or a number of inherited disease conditions (such as sickle cell anemia) that cause either a decrease in the rate of red blood cell production or an increase in the rate of red blood cell destruction. The major symptom of anemia is tiredness after minor exertions, like walking up the stairs. You may also be short of breath. Clinically, anemia is easily diagnosed by doing a Hemoglobin and Hematocrit (an H and H).

I am not a nurse but I have experience. I have been anemic
since I was pregnant with my oldest son nine years ago.
My iron level gets really low when I am pregnant, I hate taking
pills and sometimes I forget or dont feel like taking my iron pill. No doctor has ever told me it was fatal (my OB/GYN or
my regular doctor) and I have had it for nine years so my opinion is that it is not fatal.

anemia is not only a lack of iron, it is also a lack of ability for the blood to carry oxygen, yes, it can be fatal.

red blood cells carry oxygen and nutrients to your body... you can die, but not immediately, see a doctor...
