Trying to nail the kids to get future generations famaliar with Spanish. They should teach other languages if the "more the languages you know the better" is true. Can't see Spanish taking us anywhere except to coddle those South of the border so they won't have to learn English.

Because it's a bit more useful to know Spanish.
I wish more schools had a better variety in language classes.

spanish is a popular language in the us and it already has a lot of similarities to english so it's easy to show bits and pieces of in children's shows and have it make a difference in learning. there are lots of children's shows in other languages though, that are fairly readily accessible via cable tv, satellite, internet, etc.

This is a great question!!! Because the Spanish speaking population in the U.S. is overwhelmingly high? Nah... they can learn the native language! There must be another reason but who knows it???

The largest "ethnic" population in the U.S. are those who speak Spanish. The largest growing "ethnic" population are those who speak Spanish as their first language. That is why Sesame Street is using Spanish to teach children.
