I know. I love it when someone writes out a logical, factual answer WITH sources... and because it doesn't agree with someone's religious views or what "mamma" told them it gets 14 thumbs down.
I notice it especially on abortion questions and gay marriage/parenting questions. People don't care about facts if they don 't like them.
My favorite was when I answered a question about possible side effects of abortion in a completely neutral way (I didn't say if I was for or against, just listed the possible side effects and the likelihood of them occurring) and got like 10 thumbs down. Just because people didn't like it that the facts showed that statistically it was quite safe.
And don't ever mention that you're not a Christian.. you'll be crushed by the flurry of thumbs down that fall upon your head!
People want everything the way they want it... and heaven forbid you use facts to disagree!

Gee, I don't know about an obsession but there are thumbs up and thumbs down all over the site...some for good reasons and some for no good reason at all. I've given both for what I consider a really great answer and those I believe stretch the boundaries of good taste, helpful information and those who answer simply for the two points...which they stupidly tell you they've done!

Its seems that there are a few fueds going on in here that some people will remember you and thumbs down you on purpose. I however do it if I get one and I was not rude in anyway then i will thumbs down people. Just for the heck of it but it shouldn't affect there day. Sure hope they don't let it anyway.

Well, I only do it when someone posts an answer to a question saying "I don't know", not answering by putting nothing but a ".", and saying "Free points!" to someone's question. It's so annoying...
And j b, HAHAHA! I GUESS NOT ANYMORE DUDE! I scrolled up and saw that someone gave him a thumbs down... xDDD

It's a means of showing appreciation or loathing. Not everyone has the same scale as you.

Most of the people here automatically give thumbs down because of an opposing view.
