"Being close to God" doesn't mean physically. It is a state of mind/being.

If God is omnipresent that you can't literally (physically) be closer. However, you can show reverence for God by respecting nature, your fellow man and by putting an effort into living each day with light & love in your heart. Yessss, I know that sounds SO corny, but if you're a spiritual person who believes in a higher being/God/whatever your faith, than I think maintaining (or trying to maintain) love & respect for those around you is a way to stay connected.

Just because God in present everywhere at the same time, do you think that He cannot be personal. He is God and can do everything that is good, right, just and merciful.
Jesus is the mediator between God and man and who you should have a personal relationship with. Jesus became man so that you would have a role model. He died on the cross to be your saviour. He wants to have a personal relationship with each person on earth. Yes, all people at the same time. Believe that God can do it and have faith that He will.

It is not meant in the physical sense. My father and i are very close now. Perhaps now more than ever but our physical proximity has not changed. This is the same thing that is meant when one talks about getting closer to God.

Have you ever stood in a crowded room and felt alone? That is sort of how you can be distant from God. It's a spiritual heart issue. If you love God, you will seek his heart, you will stirve to do what pleases him.

God can see everything, and is everywhere. so physical closeness is not what is it talking about.

Being closer to God is not about physical closeness. It is spiritual closeness, and that is something we all need to work on everyday.

I suppose it should be "closer to the HEART of God". You can be very spiritually distant from him.

Being "close" to God doesn't imply being physically close to Him. It means knowing Him as a friend or knowing His character.
