I'm talking about the machine on the wall with the light behind it on which they post the x-rays and have a study of them, before removing them and turning the light off.

I know it sounds like minutae but I want the proper term and I can't think of it (maybe I never knew it!)... and I need it for something I'm writing.

While it is a "light box" medics refer to it as a "X-ray Viewer".

Just another one of their little tricks to confound the general public...............

Lightbox. I have one here in my studio. it's a box. And it has a light in it. Hence lightbox. :o)
