Idon't think that committing those sins will earn you a one way ticket to hell! but for some, those sins are committed on a regular basis, that it is impossible for them to think of anything else, they will go and do anything they can, no matter what the consequence is to fulfill these wants and desires..I mean if I felt that I have to have cookies right now, that's not a sin, but if feel that I have a cookie everyday no matter what AND I will steel and kill and hurt every one in my way to get that cookie, then that is what is going to earn me that one way ticket.. I do not think that it is the sin itself that is the problem, but the consequences that it brings.

You don't have them, you commit them and everyone has at one time or another committed at least one and if they say they haven't then they have committed the SIN of Pride.

I've pretty much got Gluttony and Lust down pat. I'm pretty good at Sloth too. I going to need to do some more practicing before I'll be any good at Envy, Anger, or Greed, however. Every once in a while I'll manage some decent Pride, but its kind of sporadic so far.

All of them, but that was the point of them in the first place.
I see the Seven Deadly sins as a great example of how the Church hedges its bets. Each and every one of those "sins" are unavoidable in human nature over the course of a lifetime - therefore everyone would be guilty of many (if not all) of them on a regular basis.
It's like proclaiming that blinking your eyes, belching, or passing gas is a sin.
And where do people go to be "forgiven" for these sins that they couldn't help to commit? The Church. What a great way to keep those numbers (and donations) up.
Truth is, civilization wouldn't have advanced anywhere near as far as it has come without people feeling those seven "sins". Otherwise we'd still be living in caves and eating the bare minimum needed to survive...and not multiplying as a species.

I envy people with money. Life could be so much easier.
I'm not prideful but I am fine with myself and I love my wife and I enjoy my kids growing up to be good men.
I never glutton.
Lust -- neither sexual nor for power. I believe I have healthy needs and aspirations.
I am not one to get angry at small things. I control any anger very well.
I am not slothful.
I am not greedy, we give a lot. My second child's classroom gave more to charity this Christmas than all the other classes combined.
By Christian views we are a very sinful family because we are not a religious one.

"Sin creates [an inclination] to sin; it engenders vice by repetition of the same acts. This results in perverse inclinations which cloud conscience and corrupt the concrete judgment of good and evil. Thus sin tends to reproduce itself and reinforce itself, but it cannot destroy the moral sense at its root." Para. 1865, Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1994 --------------------------- In Roman Catholicism, the Seven Deadly Sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, are a list of the worst vices that cut a person off from God's grace. In Latin and English, the Seven Deadly Sins are: superbia (pride), avaritia (greed), luxuria (extravagance, later lust), invidia (envy), gula (gluttony), ira (wrath), and acedia (sloth). Each of the Seven Deadly Sins corresponds to one of the Seven Holy Virtues (see below), and together these lists were the moral standards and tests of the early Catholic Church. Much debate thrived over the relative merit of the Seven Deadly Sins in the scope of salvation, as well as their particular ranking. The Roman Catholic Church differentiates between two different types of sin: venial sin (forgiven through a sacrament) and capital sin (meriting damnation without reconciliation). The Seven Deadly Sins may be venial or mortal depending on the specific case (see below).

Everybody has all of them to a certain degree. It's not just human nature, but the nature of animals as well. It's letting them dominate your life that is the problem.
The one I have the most trouble with is Sloth. I'm very laid back anyway, and when I don't feel like doing something, it's difficult to get me to do it.

I have a personal affinity for "Lust" myself .But I have too much "Sloth" to get any, yet I "Envy" those "Gluttons" who get it all the time, because they are so "Pride" filled. They really piss me off! ("Anger").
Wow - I guess I have more than I thought!
(I am SO going to hell - damn it!)

Not right! those are abominations that God hates, Sin is any think that Goes against what God said. Example, the Ten Commandments and also God told Adam not to eat from the tree of knowledge, but he did anyway "that is Sin."

the fact is the seven deadly sins appear no where in the bible and come from Dante's inferno. the catholic church incorporated them I think after it was St. Jerome who decided to stop telling people they had to quit enjoying themselves too much. after he spent his life doing this same thing..
