I got a tattoo roughly a week ago, and I am on a roadtrip where I have been sitting and driving for almost 8 hours. When I went to clean the tattoo and apply ointment, it was stuck to my clothes, and then I got the clothing off of it, it was bleeding a little. Is this ok? My other one never did that. They are both on my groin area. What should I do to prevent this? I will be driving around alot, and I dont want it to happen again.

You really are harming your tattoo doing a road trip like that - it is not the tattoo artist's fault. It was bleeding because it totally dried out so when the clothes were pulled off you pulled the scabs off of those areas that were bleeding when they were not ready to come off.

In all likelihood you will lose color from those spots. Be honest with your artist and don't try to make it seem like it was his/her fault.

Edit notes - absolutely do NOT put plastic wrap on a healing tattoo. Even those artists that use it initially will all tell you to take it off after a couple of hours.

Stop more often to be sure you have applied lotion regularly to prevent that from happening again. Don't wear jeans, either, on long road trips with fresh tattoos.

seems like your tattoo artist applied too much pressure to your tattoo, which is why it is stil bleeding even a week later. As you know since you already have a tattoo it is normal for clothes to get stuck and for the top layer of skin to peel off in the healing process. I would suggest putting gauze over your tattoo after you apply A & D ointment. All of the pressure from driving (and especially in that area) could be the reason as to why you are bleeding a little bit. Try this and give it a few days. Try to keep pressure off of it as much as possible. If it doesn't stop in a few days, go back to the tattoo person and see what they suggest.

loose clothing, vaseline, and it ain't the tat artist's fault. Also, triple antibiotic ointment---don't know if it will hurt the tat, but it will speed the healing.

I suggest covering the same way they did when you left the tattoo parlor. Apply some petroleum jelly then cover with plastic wrap. Thats what I did.
