Many Christians have tried to find a compromise between evolution and the Bible by suggesting that the creation of man involved an evolutionary process. The most liberal interpretation of Scripture cannot get around the fact that Adam and Eve were the first humans. The Book of Genesis says that Eve was created from Adam’s rib. There is no way to reconcile the following passages with evolution:

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man” (Gen. 2:21-22).

"And God said," Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let him have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created he him; male and female created he them" (Genesis 2:26-27).

Certainly not - to answer your question!
It really is laughable that there are people who actually believe that. I say to them, please don't insult me!

with God all things are possible. So unless you want to put a limit on what God *can* do, then yes it is *possible* that men evolved from Apes.

Do I think they did? no. As for interpetations..Adam and Eve were the first humans because they were the first to be given a soul and the ability to reason..their physical shape had nothing to do with that.

God explains the why...evolution helps explain the how.

Yes
I have never had a problem believing both the Bible and Science, including the evidences and logic of Evolution(and there are many subtheories of evolution

How does one know when to take which passages of the Bible literally and which symbolically?

Which tradition or cafeteria of traditions does one use in interpreting Scripture?

Which Church does one trust to edit the Bible into canons of New testament and Old Testament/?Who decides which books get in?

"Dust",'Rib',"days' etc can as easily be taken metaphorically as literally.

Oh ye of small mind, evolution is fact. So you either have the mental capacity to make it work with your buy-bull or you live in ignorance.

Many intelligent Christians and believers in God, have done this quite nicely.

OBVIOUSLY there was other people because Cain found a wife in NOD.

I believe genesis is bunk but if you must insist on believing that nonsense perhaps you could investigate the idea that Adam and Eve were the first Jews.

Just a thought.

OR, you could continue to remain willfully ignorant.

Romans 1:18-23 - "For God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who are suppressing the truth in an unrighteous way, because what may be known about God is manifest among them, for God made it manifest to them. For his invisible [qualities] are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable; because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their unintelligent heart became darkened. Although asserting they were wise, they became foolish and turned the glory of the incorruptible God into something like the image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed creatures and creeping things."

The Answer is No...

First of all evolution has never stated that men evolved from apes. That is the line that pastors and ministers use to dumb down their congregations. Evolution does strongly suggest that men and the great apes evolve from a common ancestor, big difference.
Those trying to equate evolution with some master plan of their gods is simply a feeble attempt to once again give some scientific validity to the mythology of the bible.

If the biblical authors wrote allegorically there is no problem.. Its that darn literal interpretation. If God made eve from adams rib, them she had adams dna--an xy chromosome and therefore was adam and adam. If he decided to change adams and give it an x, then they were identical twins of different sexes--that is brother and sister genetically. Therefore your genesis story is either a gay tale or one of incestous love.

Was not going to answer this 'q'. But for the entirely false response from 'ndmagicm...'
Religion did not create the 'man from apes' lie, it was scientists and their artist's renditions that did.

Just type in human evolution, and do an image search on the yahoo engine and find tens of thousands of images, many of them, artist's renditions.

Yeah, you get by it. Besides, Evolution is an ongoing process, while God stopped creating.

No, it couldn't be possible, because then that would be contradicting the Bible, which is Gods word. God CREATED man and woman. He did not make it so they would evolve over millions of years from apes.

It could have been his plan but it was not his plan.

The Bible says that man was made in the image of God and God is not an ape!

WE did not evolve we are the work of Gods creation!!!!!!!!!!!!!
