I am pretty sure I learned this in High School. At the time, I was the only one in the class that thought murdering 100 people is worse than stealing a paperclip from work in the eyes of God. So, what is the orthodox Chrisitan dogma on this question??

I'm guessing this is another commentary by Apostle Paul because it does not say that "if you break one law you break them all" in the Hebrew Scriptures. Another missinterpretation by Paul

There are sins that have a greater magnitude and carry greater weight. To use your example, yes murdering 100 people is worse than stealing a paperclip from work in the sense that murder has more serious consequences. The punishment is going to be very severe on earth. Having said that, the eternal punishment that all of us deserve is the same. We all deserve to face God's wrath and judgment for the sins we've committed no matter how big or small. Jesus Christ's death on the cross absorbed that wrath for those who would trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. He is our penal substitute and the gift of salvation can only be found in Christ.

In society, of course it's worse to murder 100 people than to steal a paperclip. That's a moronic argument. In the eyes of God, a sin is a sin. If you lie, you are still sinning, just as a murderer does. There aren't different levels of Heaven that determine where the "little sinners" go. They are all sinners, atheists and Christians alike.

In the eyes of man, sins are usually viewed as crimes. We on earth have different levels of crime. Misdemeanor...all the way up to a felony, and so on. In the eyes of God, murdering 100 people and lying 1 time, equal 101 sins against God, all judged the same way. A sin is a sin. However, if you ask for forgiveness of all your sins, then all your sins become the same. ...Forgiven ones. :D

No, in the Bible it speaks of different types of sins.

1 John 5:16-17 speaks of sins that lead to "death" (mortal) and sin that doesn't (venial)

A just God knows that a child stealing a cookie from a store isn't the same as a person murdering his family. God knows that we are humans and we commit offenses those are venial but cruel acts as rape or murder are mortal sins.

Okay, first the Bible doesn't actually say that. It does teach that none of us can earn our way into Heaven, but even Jesus taught that there was one unforgivable sin (blasphemy against the Holy Spirit). So, I am not sure where you got information from, I suggest reading the Bible and seeing what it actually says.

All people are sinners though, and all can be saved through Jesus if they Will turn. The sin of blasphemy against the Holy spirit is simply continuing to resist the Holy Spirits prompting and keep rejecting Jesus your whole life.

all sins are sin. Some are grossly worse than others and the punishment at the final judgement is meeted out according to the sin. yet any sin seperates you from God we need forgiveness in order to bring us back into unity with God. He has made this possible through the blood of Christ which is made easy for us to attain. Just repent and believe.

The orthodox view is that you are a boob.

You have maybe heard of mortal and venial sins. And you've had friends or great aunts who have read Dante, who graphically depicts the punishment fitting the type and severity of sin.
And "pretty sure" -- couldn't you check that out before farting into the world's PA system.

No not all sins are equal in the eyes of God. It is taught that Denying the Holy Ghost is the greatest sin, then murder , and then sexual fornication. They are know as the 3 abominations

Yes and no. The Bible says that if you break one law you're guilty of all, but obviously different sins have different consequences when acted out - some more severe than others.
