What if a law was passed and anyone who preached the Gospel or was caught trying to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ would face the death penalty.

Would you continue to be a voice or zip your lip?

I would be killed. I can't shut my mouth. We are called to preach the gospel to every creature. Jesus even tells us we could die doing it. But it's so important that we must not shut up, "for I'm not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation." (Romans 1:16)

Hello,

That is a good question. To be honest, I would not really know until I faced that situation. Have you ever walked up to a killing machine like a guillotine? I have and on TV it doesn't phase you much but seeing it in reality, even in a museum gives you the real heebe geebies and sense of fear.

Depending on what I had as far as family responsibilities go, I could probably guess that I'd initially shut my mouth and say little for quite a spell because I know that death and departure from this world is 100% certain whereas life on the other side is more like a 50/50 gamble. Perhaps in time I would come across and speak up but I can assure you that I would have taken a fair bit of time to come to that decision and probably the state would also have done other things that pissed me off.

If all your life was a living epistle of the gospel of Jesus Christ then I think that the law would come looking for you first.
For some of us we would get away because we never took a stand prior to this.
Are we bearing the testimony of the Lord where we are now? And I don't mean getting up to go to church on a sunday.. but with a life and living that testifies of the Lord Jesus in a real way in all our environments.

To think of facing a death penalty for the Lord is truly terrifying. To be honest.. I just pray that my dying to the Self and Soul life day by day will prepare me to die physically for the Lord's Name and the Gospel.

The stands start small brother. I took a stand personally to not be a part of a celebration that had no beginnings with the Lord and it costs me dearly. Hopefully these small things will have a way to strengthen me up if i have to face death physically for the Lord.

May the Lord cover us all

I would continue to show the love of God through my ACTIONS, as I do now. I do not share unless I am asked.

Such a law would be impossible to enforce 100%. There is the written word. People can pass notes, so even if the government bugged all homes, people would find a way.

Are you advocating such a thing? Do you want to move to a Communist Country, where you are told what to do, what to say, what color to paint your home, and what to name your child? Why would you want to live like that?

All mankind faces the death penalty. Christians should already be dead to the affairs of this world. Some of your questions look like they were written by a closet Christian.

My answer is: If you are a Christian, not just a subscriber to Christian religious organizations, you have already faced the death penalty and will do what you are called to do.

we'd definitely try to fight the law. I doubt that such a law would be passed in a land that was founded because the founders wanted religious freedom. Read up on US History.
Also it wouldn't prevent preaching, except by those who had little faith in god in the first place.

Not a matter of what if, but, when.

I hope to not be here when it does happen. If I should happen to be here, then I would continue to be the "body of Christ" and give Him a voice.

I know that if I deny Him infront of man, then the Lord will deny me when that time comes.

Of course, as I was doing this, I would pray for strength to endure.

Michael W. Smith raised the same question with his tribute to Cassie Bernall, the Columbine High School victim who was asked if she believed in God.
Smith wrote a song in her honor that begins like this:
"It was a test we would all hope to pass,
But none of us would want to take"

I'd go underground. I'd express my opinion through the written word. Works for me since I'm a writer. A smart one can get the message out there without a huge chance of getting caught. I'd love to be more vocal, but with three kids, they are what I'd protect more. God gave them to me to protect and love and I have every intention of doing that to the day of my last breath.

I would immediately jump on top of a roof with a loud speaker and preach, preach, preach. Death penalty to a real Christian is victory. How could you be upset about going to paradise away from the planet of the apes?
