My friend (a Uni student) recently went for a liver test.
She drinks waaaay too much. But it's part of the whole Uni thing.
I hope she'll be okay, lol.

you want to stay away from drinks that will dehydrate you like caffeinated beverages. things like pedialite and gatorade will help to replenish your body of low electrolytes. however, old-fashioned h2o will work just fine!

I've only had one hangover, and it wasn't much more than an upset stomach. I had 7 beers, the weakest one being 6.3%, and one of them being a 22oz (7.8%). I've been way more drunk with vodka or wine than I was from that.

That said, the drinks that are most likely to cause a hangover are those with high levels of cogeners. Among these, vodka is the least likely -- atleast a good bottle. Vodka is a fairly pure mixture of ethanol and water, with not a whole lot else going on. Gin is also similar, there's a few essential oils from junipers [pine tree flavor], but not really any cogeners.

White wine doesn't have much cogeners, more than vodka or gin. Red wine, on the other hand, has a ton of cogeners. Supposedly, drinking a bottle of red wine would give most people a hangover. I've, of course, had more and woken up the next morning fine.

And, for distilled beverages, whiskey (bourbon, especially) is among the highest level of cogeners. Darker distilled liquids will have more cogeners. This doesn't apply to liquers, though (I had a half bottle of Jager last night and felt fine this morning, if you're familiar with it you know it's pretty dark stuff, but is a liquer not a liquor).

I don't know about this whole not mixing stuff idea. All your drinks have ethanol, water, and cogeners. If you switch from beer to bourbon you'll get a hangover, but you would have if you drank bourbon all night instead (what I'm saying is you have to look at your overall cogener intake). If you had one shot of bourbon and a 6 pack, you probably wouldn't get a hangover if a 6 pack doesn't give you a hangover. I recall one night I drank most of a bottle of red wine, a few different beers and a couple gin drinks, with no hangover. How much more varied could I have been?

There are few things as bad as dirt cheap Vodka for producing a hangover. All things on the dirt cheap end are much more likely to produce a thumping headache the next day, whether it's not filtered as well (#1) or it just flat out more harsh you get what you pay for. Box O wine, and cheap vodka/tequila = likely hangover

A fool-proof method against hangovers is DON'T MIX BOOZE!!! Drink same thing all night long and you'll be fine next morning.
Rule #2: If you DO mix drinks, go from weaker drinks (like wine) to stronger ones (like whiskey and vodka), not the other way round!!!!
Some people have hangover from a certain type of wine - if you do, that's simple - don't drink it! Find a wine that gives you a buzz, not blues!
Rule of a thumb: the drink that is least likely to cause a hangover is vodka. Mix it with something that has flavor and you got yourself a good buzz and no nasty consequences like hangover... Besides if you have to drive after you drink (better don't do it!!!!) vodka gets out of your system faster than anything else. Alow at least 2 hours before you drive though.
Stay away from all this sweet and chemical sh&t, it will cause a hangover FOR SURE.

Colored drinks, spiced drinks and drinks that contain alot of congeners ...
Knowing something about the level of congeners in your chosen alcoholic beverage may help you determine how sick it can make you. The fermentation and distillation processes determine the amount of congeners in the end product. Lower levels of congeners may mean a kinder, gentler hangover.

More expensive booze usually contains fewer congeners because it undergoes a more rigorous distillation process that filters out a higher percentage of the congeners.

Darker colored drinks, such as whiskey, brandy and red wine have more congeners than lighter drinks such as vodka, gin and white wine.

So Vodka and "white" wine (not mixed together or drinking along with each other) is not too bad. Also, drinking too much or too fast is more likely to cause a hangover the next morning.

So, Lucy... when are you going to take me out and buy me a drink?
I may be just your type...

Super cheap liquor has given me the worst hangovers.... I think the worst was Popov vodka (mixed with koolaid, of all things) from when I was in college. Then again, it's likely to have also been due to the fact that back then I drank it as though it was plain koolaid.

Gatorade and Mountain Dew, works everytime...and you're only going to get a hangover if you don't drink 2x the amount of alcohol you drank in water before you pass out. If you drink the water you will have a much milder hangover.

GIN! GIN IS THE WORST FOR HANGOVERS, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE ONCE FROM DRINKING TOO MUCH GILBYS.

Stay away from mixing with soda's and drinking too much liquid to get drunk (beer). Wine is not that bad if you don't drink too much.

When it comes down to it, too much of anything will give you a hangover since everything you are drinking CONTAINS ALCOHOL.

My advice, stay away from drinking loads of beers, like 10-15 when you go out because it will make you bloated and feel full. The less liquid the better. DRINK LIQUOR!

wine, champagne, shots of any kind..... or any mixing of drinks period.......also, drink water, water and more damn water...... i drink 1 glass of water for every drink, to avoid dehydration, also, no mixing drinks. and definitely no shots. take 1 sip of the champagne and thats it, 1 glass of champagne mixed with whatever you are drinking will give you THE WORST hangover....... when you think you have had enough water, drink more. try to stay away from any cocktail that has a sweet alcohol in it, such as white russian or apple martinis...... the sweetness causes a mad hangover, eat little bits of food here and there and take 3 advil or aleve before bed with a huge glass of water!!!
stay safe and happy new year!!!!

Sweet drinks - the sugar from it plus the alcohol can put a "double punch" on the body's system.
