If you define truth as the word of god, no need to continue this discussion. You win everything. Your mother must be very proud. Congratulations!

If you have the ability to see beyond only black and white, you are on a good path to enlightenment and continued growth in your life. You will never find the truth, that is, the ultimate question to life, the universe, and everything. However, you can live a happy life and make good use of your time in between birth and death. True spirituality is finding harmony with one's Self. Why would one look to external sources for true happiness and spiritual development?

If you have the presence of mind to answer these questions, by all means I would like to hear the epistemology of your definitions.

Proof: a deductive logic term meaning that one starts with given premises and formally shows the consequences. it assumes thee is evidence to suggest the premises are factual.

truth: two forms - conventional (truth based on culture, time, etc.), and absolute (that which is always the case).Conventional truth will be a closer or further approximation of absolute truth, which may or may not be available to humanity. Evidence and clear logic will decide how valuable a convention is when compared with another.

Truth is provable in the details.
To find the truth in anything is the same for everything else. No exceptions.
A lie (or liar) is found out, when you listen to their story, and the details do not add up to what they are saying (claiming).
The details should be able to be colloborated (confirmed elsewhere). It is the supporting information which will confirm the original story, to be true.

Any religion should be able to prove (confirm) that what they say - happened. There should be a confirmation on this, being possible.
With 'Jesus' - if no information is available about 'Jesus' - then you look for the surrounding characters around the Jesus story - were they recorded in history?
A major reason why they may be absent, is that history was never kept and recorded down - and even if such records were kept? They were most probably destroyed by one act or another, like that of wars, and disintegration of those who kept the records, etc etc.
This is only but one way of trying to find the truth about the Jesus story - there would be many other ways to follow up on...

Religions which don't allow you to follow your heart and feelings - to listen to your own thoughts and conclusions, etc is a false one. Unfortunately this is what the Middle Eastern religions do - instead of the above, they say to you - to give up your own personal power and responsibility etc - and seek consolation with an external force - that of God and Jesus, etc --- only that these things do not exist, and instead you become reliant upon the Church and the Bible - in which you lose your own personal power, etc --- and give that to them...

Proof - Evidence of a result. That can be measured, qualified and experianced by either the mind or one of the senses. Example. of proof. A note with the equation 1+1=2. Can be proved to be correct by doing the addition in your head, or by a visual / tactile or even auditory experimant.

truth - a known fact that is supported by proof and evidence.

TRUTH - a philosopical idea as truth is always changing based on time and technology, TRUTH is something that is , was, and shall be. It is a perfect thing and is as far as we know it to be unobtainable.

Example - Beauty, example: meaning of life, etc...

"True spirituality is finding harmony with one's Self." So, they say. In reality though, the carnal mind (self - hence the word self'ish') is enmity towards the Truth. It is for that precise reason that finding myself will not lead me to any remote semblance of truth. Unless, of course my truths are all relative (non existent). But, I know that reality is based upon more than just mere perception.

To walk in the Spirit you must relinquish the deadly carnality in which your own 'flesh' holds you in bondage to. Otherwise, THERE IS NO spirituality. You see, you cannot serve two masters. One is to life as the other is to death. Can you see the dilemma?

So, by walking in the Spirit there is no 'death' at all, my friend. Time which also controls the 'flesh' can no longer limit your true potential. Without eternal life granted by God, you are already dead. This is why Y'shua said that the one who is in love with his life will lose it. Marinade (ponder) that thought for a while.

"However, you can live a happy life and make good use of your time in between birth and death." But, I see it this way; I aspire to enjoy not only birth, but, birth, rebirth, and (eternal) life. This is the proper meaning of wealth and prosperity. In Christ we may walk in a newness of life rather than just trying to jerry-rig some false conception of it from our own rusted parts.

"If you define truth as the word of god, no need to continue this discussion. You win everything."

And, in this respect you are exactly right.

Although I agree with you that you cannot find enlightenment and spirituality in external sources I disagree with the notion that WE have to ability, let alone the capacity, to find true, lasting, eternal happiness within ourselves.

The claims of Jesus Christ have been tested and found true based on the non-existence of evidence refuting it. i.e., His claims being backed up by His miracles, witnessed by thousands of eyewitnesses and never once shown false in history by an eyewitness. This only attests to the claim that He really was who He said He was and what He said is true and authentic and can be trusted. No other person in world history claimed what He claimed and could back it up by defying the laws of physics and nature.

It is apparent that you haven't read Genesis 1-3. Satan told Eve that if she ate of the forbidden fruit that she would be as god knowing both good and evil. She didn't realise that the devil was deceiving her because she was already perfectly created in the image and likeness of her creator. But by eating the fruit would give Satan access to her spirit, her mind and her body thus defiling her and this world completely, which she did and then gave the fruit to Adam and He transgressed as well, damning every soul born of his flesh but God cursed the serpent saying that one day one (Jesus Christ) would rise up to defeat his power and redeem the people back to God in purity and holiness. It is also apparent that trying to find true harmony outside of Christ is deception and falsehood. Their is no good in self but evil and needs to be transformed and this can only be done by the Holy Spirit of Almighty God.
