Wrapping up a live animal is probably not a good idea. Just hide it untill you wanna give it to her, then bring it out with a big bow on it. I'm sure she will be excited to get it no matter what you do. Merry Christmas :-)

As others have said, put a bow on it and leave it at that. You don't want to put it in a box, wrap it, and then she shakes the box trying to figure out what's inside. Alternatively, you could make up a plan with your parents to keep her busy and hide the hamster cage in another room and she has to "find it". The hamster is in the cage, so he's safe, and she will see the cage with a bow and still be surprised. Good luck! :)

This is hard. I, personally think, if you put a bow around it and bring it out Christmas morning, it'd be a good idea. However, if you want to "wrap" it, I recommend you get a big cardboard box. Poke a bunch of holes in it, and put the cage in there Christmas morning before giving it to your sister. Put a bow on the box, and she's able to open it. It's not a good idea wrapping a live animal.

now, that is a very nice gift. Your sister will love it, but always supervise her when handling. She can easily hurt the gerbil.
Do not wrap the cage with the gerbil in it. This will not be good. The gerbil will chew the wrapping paper, and it will be daark, and your gerbil will be frightened. Odds are, it won't suffocate, since wrapping paper usually isn't airtight, but it is a big risk to put the gerbil in the cage when wrapped.
I have a great idea. Wrap up the cage like you'd wrap any other box, just take the gerbil out. Wrap the gift at the last second, just so the gerbil is comfortable. Don't be in the room when your sister unwraps the present, but listed intently for when she says something like, "What's this for?" and then come out with the little girbil in your hand. Your sister will surely be delighted.

Get a box to fit it with a top and bottom, and wrap both individually, so the top can be lifted off. Put a bow on it, with air holes around it but under the ribbon part so will have air but not give away something inside alive, being under bow ribbon. Tell her it's fragile and to open it carefully (not to shake or anything to see what's inside,LOL). Wait until last minute, before giving it to her, to put top on. This way, also, you can put empty box under tree, until time to sneak hamster inside. Have tryed to email you, because hadn't been in touch for awhile, but I couldn't get to go thru. Have a Merry Christmas.

I wouldn't recommend wrapping it...sorry. how about this. have it hidden close to her room. while she is unwrapping other presents or while she is good and distracted with something else, have a family member or yourself take the cage and put it in her room and put a blanket or maybe even a large pillow case over it. When she is done unwrapping her other gifts tell her to go to her room for one last surprise, and "viola" you are super sister. or do you happen to have a smaller sized terrarium style aquarium. put it in one of those and add a little fresh veggie( for a little food moisture) and bedding. Then wrap it so it all comes together on top and loosely tie it together with a piece of ribbon. make sure you do it shortly before unwrapping it though. wrapping live animals are tricky

Well if your gonna wrap it maybe leave some big wholes in the paper so it can breathe. But also wrap it like the morning of Christmas so she can open it quick. I don't think the hamster would like the dark either. So yea just some air holes.

Wrap the empty cage in wrapping paper and let her open it. Put the hamster in a box and hide it somewhere safe. Once she opens up the cage give her the hamster to go in it.

Well, the wrapping paper would make it not able to breathe so if you don't want your sis to open her present and find it dead, I would just put a bow around it.

hey thats a nice present, hope she's ok to look after them tho
you could wrap a carboard box around the bottom and sides leaving the top open then you could put the box over the cage upside down jsut before you ive it too her .
Don't do it too early tho or they might suffocate :(
