My SO's family Christmas is Sunday. I already have a lot on my to-do list and don't want to mess with a lot of preparation and heavy cleanup afterwards. Does anybody have any blue ribbon recipe ideas that are simple?

1 pound green beans, ends trimmed
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 ounces sliced mushrooms
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup brandy or cognac ( you can skip)
1/3 cup red wine
1/3 cup chicken broth
Fried Onions, recipe follows ( you can skip)

Cook green beans in boiling salted water until tender, about 3 or 4 minutes. Drain well.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook until browned, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the garlic and thyme. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste. Cook until garlic is fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add brandy or cognac, red wine and chicken broth, bring to a boil. Simmer to blend flavors and reduce sauce, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add green beans to mushroom sauce and toss to coat. Place on a large serving dish, season again with salt and pepper, to taste.

1 lb. hamburger
1 med. onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. Bisquick
3 eggs
1 can tomatoes, drained
1 c. shredded cheese

Brown hamburger and onions together, put in a greased 9"x9" pan. Combine the milk, Bisquick and eggs together; pour over the hamburger. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Add tomatoes and cheese and bake 10 minutes longer or until knife inserted in middle comes out clean.

I normally chop the onions and add chopped baccon its really good!

sausage balls,
3 c bisquick,10 oz grated sharp cheddar cheese,1 lb bulk sausage crumbled and fry,1/4 c water . mix together. roll in small balls no bigger than 1/2 dollar bake at 400 for 10 mins on ungreased cookie sheet.
cranberry meatballs
1 lb ground beef,1 can jellied cranberry sauce,1 bottle chilli sauce,1 tblsp lemon juice,2 tblsp brown sugar
season beef with salt and pepper . make small meatballs. put in baking dish . preheat oven to 325. cook in saucepan,1 can jellied cranberry sauce,cook down untill smooth. add 1 bottle of chilli sauce ,1 tsp lemon juice,2 tblsp brown sugar cook on low for 5 minutes. Pour mixture over meatballs . Bake 1 hour . I hope this helps . good luck and merry christmas.

purple meat Stroganoff a million a million/2 lb floor purple meat a million bag extensive egg noodles 2 cans cream of mushroom soup a million (8 oz.) canister bitter cream brown purple meat, drain. Boil pasta, drain. integrate all aspects into one pan, simmer approximately 5 minutes till all contents are warm. Serves 4-6 relatively! I continuously serve with a salad and buttered bread! wish he enjoys it!! My boyfriend asks for it as quickly as a week!! lol

So Easy and so Good Pasta Quick Quick
linguine (enough for 2 people)
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon chili flakes
salt
pepper
1/2 cup sliced green peppers
1/2 cup chopped fresh broccoli
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese, to taste
2 tablespoons cream cheese with garlic and herbs
1/2 cup half-and-half cream

1. Put pasta cooking.

2. Heat oil in skillet and saute the garlic and peppers.

3. Add chilli flakes, pepper and salt to taste.

4. Add the cream- stir well.

5. Add the cheeses- mix both in well- it should look a bit creamy and thick.

6. In the last 2 minutes of cooking the pasta, add the broccoli to the pasta pot.

7. (This will cook it a bit, but still leave it crunchy).

8. Drain pasta and add to the sauce mixture, toss well and plate.

9. Garnish with additional parmesan cheese.

10. Enjoy!

1 silverside pot roast
2-3 liters ginger beer

1. All you do is put your silverside in the pot pour you ginger beer over till its completely covering the roast and then cook on stove.

2. Refer to the cooking instructions on the silverside packet for the cooking time.

3. Serve with your usual vegetables, sauces etc.

4. You will be impressed ! Enjoy !

Quick and Easy Doughnuts

1 (10 count) can refrigerated biscuits
oil or Crisco shortening (for frying)
frosting (optional) or powdered sugar (optional)

1. Heat 1 inch of oil or Crisco Shortening in a skillet or heat up a Deep Fat Fryer or Fry Daddy.

2. Separate biscuits, lay each one on a paper towel until ready to fry.

3. Hold each biscuit inbetween your hands leaving thumbs free.

4. With one of your thumbs, make a hole in each biscuit.

5. Fry in the hot oil until brown.

6. Turn over and fry until brown on the other side.

7. Cool the doughnuts.

8. Frost them or sprinkle with Powdered Sugar.

If you want to bring dessert then this is a good one. I made these last night, no joke 5 min!

CHOW MEIN NOODLE COOKIE DROPS

1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. butterscotch chips
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chow mein noodles

Melt chips in microwave. Mix in nuts and chow mein noodles. Spoon out, drop on waxed paper, cool.
