That you DON'T have to scream into a cell phone???
I work with a lady who SCREAMS into her cell phone as if she was talking into a Cup with a Wire on it ~!

With the advances in technology today , you can whisper into the phone to someone half way around the world and they can hear you FINE..........

I generally agree with you! That said, two things.

1. Some people are just loud people. I happen to be one of them, and I can't help it.

2. Sometimes you CAN'T hear someone half way around the world on your cell phone. Sometimes your signal is not strong. Sometimes there are a lot of distracting noises on one or both ends. Sometimes you are just in a noisy place.

Take away those factors, and I agree with you.

Since I take the train to work, I deal with this problem several times per day. In my case it's not young women, but middle-aged businessmen who want the entire train car to know how important they are, so they shout orders and business deal arrangements into their Blackberries. They're sickening.

My Dad always yelled into his telephone. What was funny was that he yelled loudest when the call was from the opposite coast. I think it is because when he was a little boy back in the twenties. You had to yell to be heard on the old ringer phones. Now my Dad has a cell.....................

It's seems to happen more with people who can't hear very well.
My mom is like that and she screams into the phone!
She even does it when she talks in person.
One time she asked me where something was and I answered:
"In the kitchen"
She said "what"
I said "in the kitchen"
She said "what"
I said "in the kitchen"
She said "what"
I said: "IN THE KITCHEN!"
She said: "Geeez, you don't have to yell"
Go figure

It may be annoying but not as annoying as someone who puts their whole conversation on speakers for the whole world to hear.

apparently not.

I find people tend to talk louder when their volume is too low and they can't here the other person, as if the other person can't here them either.

it annoys me too. I have my own things to worry about. I don't care and therefore don't want to hear why you can't make you dentist's appoinment on Tuesday.
