"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1. John 1:8-9
Can you rely on God and His Word? Of course you can. Take Him at His word and you will see peace return to your heart.
Remember the story Jesus told in Luke 15 about the prodigal son? God, the Father, is waiting for you to come home to flood you with His forgiveness and love. All you need to do is repent and go back to Him.
And, yes, go to a Bible-believing church where you can sense Christ's love, and find the support you need in your times of trial.

God forgives everything and if it is a good church they will treat you like you were never gone. We all have our doubts. I have already been through such a time about 5 yrs ago when I lost my daughter. It is ok and God knows your heart so don't worry about it He will forgive you.

We see in Romans 4:17-22 that Abraham became fully perusaded that God would do what He had promised. There is probably nothing as important to forgiveness than calling on God. Yes, God loves you more than you will ever know. He will forgive and accept you back.

Non-religious
"Will He forgive me for this error?" Maybe not
To forgive sin under all circumstances unconditionally communicates a false gospel. It is not what God does. To not tolerate or forgive sin at all also communicates a false gospel.

Absolutely. God knows your heart...and as long as you truly are sorry in your heart, and ask him for the forgiveness, He will give it to you. All it takes is faith to believe he has forgiven you...and for you to forgive YOURSELF, too. I think that's probably more difficult to do than believing that God has forgiven us.
Personally, I don't feel it's really necessary to go to church services regularly or to be a member of a specific religion in order to have that forgiveness, but if it makes you feel better and helps you to have fellowship with like minded folks in your faith community, it's all good. You can still be a good Christian and not go to an organized church. Your spirituality is between you and the Lord.
Any anger you felt is perfectly understandable, and being angry with God is not the same as "giving up" on God or rejecting Him. Some of the greatest people in the Bible and throughout history have at times doubted, had "dry" times in their spiritual lives, and even walked away to become "prodigal sons/daughter." Some have questioned God outright...like Job. Even the Book of Psalms and Christ himself on the Cross said "My God, My God, why hast thou Forsaken me?" Yet, he still rose from the dead in three days to save sinners like you...and me.
It's not always easy to understand or explain "logically" but that's ok! As my favorite singer, Rick Springfield once said in a 1988 song "it's a matter of faith, and I'm the only one who has to believe it..."
Bottom line? As long as you are willing to return to God, and say "I'm sorry, please forgive me" God will always welcome you back. His love is unconditional and forever. Too bad we humans can't do that more often :(
As for feeling abandoned by God...why not think of it instead as in that beautiful poem "Footsteps." When the person asks God as they walk along the beach, why were there sometimes two sets of footprints (Gods and yours) and other times only one? Why did you leave me? and God answered. "My child. I love you very much and would never leave you. Those footprints in the sand were mine. That is when I carried you."
God bless you, too.

Oh Holy, I'm really sorry. Please don't feel bad, your story breaks the heart. Yes, God is always forgiving, you have just to be sincere in your request. Kneel down and pray from the bottom of your heart.
Only 11 months......if it passed one year, it would be difficult....lol.

Why wouldn't He forgive you. If He doesn't forgive you, He won't forgive me. I've been absent from the church longer than that.

The "fact" that you've learned and accepted some humility on your part points you in the right direction. It appears that your chances to be forgiven have improved remarkably.
Peace be with you.

Isn't WalMart selling forgiveness these days? They've sort-of cornered the Christian market, ya know. Just pick up a six-pack of forgiveness next time you're there.
