question and would like a serious answer they don't give all the info so that someone can make an informed opinion/answer?

I had this lady whom I answered her question I thought that she had quit breastfeeding her child becasue he was lactose intolerant. It turned out in a nasty e-mail from her that she quit due to meds that she was on

Simple. Some of people already know the answer. They are looking for someone to confirm what they already think they know.
If you don't want to know the answer, don't ask the question. (registered sm SI Inc.)

I think it is because when people ask really long questions, very few if any people answer. Also, sometimes there are so many supporting details that the question could take pages, if they start putting in details

I'd say that maybe one out of ten questions on here are written clearly. I think for the most part people are just poor communicators. Explains a lot of the fighting and name-calling, doesn't it?

That said, I think your question makes the 1 out of 10. :-)

Sometimes when we write, we are "too close" to an issue -- it's as if we are sure we have conveyed all of the heavy meanings and implications in our question, but to the objective observer, that weight is not apparent.

Maybe it's because they want to keep it short and sweet? Some people won't read everything. I have to admit that I usually will skim, looking for the most important parts.

Either they're not very good at putting their question into words or they don't know how to use the *add detail* function.

Because they usually already know the answer and they are already wrong and know it. If they don't give all the information, then maybe they will look better.

Maybe it's rhetorical. Sometimes people just want you to listen to them

Because it is a shorter answer which cause less typing
