And I called in to work. They said I need a doctors note and I am off tomorrow so it gives me time to get rest cause I am soooooo tired feeling. I go back Sunday evening. The problem I don't have a doctor and I HATE hospitals, I am scared of them for reasons I don't want to even think about. I won't go unless I am literally dying . I don't know what to do. NC law says you can be out of work up to 3 days without a note but I work in a restaurant and they will fire anyone, they don't care plus I am new.
What should I do. I thought about copying one I have on my computer and making a fake one but I don't want to get caught, that will be worse than not having one. I can't go to a regular doctor I am FLAT broke. What should I do?

For those saying I am just tired, yea I am tired. My body aches. One minute I am shivering and the next I am burning up, my ear hurts, my throat hurts, I can barely breathe, I am in bed on my laptop, I have a splitting headache, I have a painful dry cough and feel like snapping at someone. Got it now? If I get up just to go to the bathroom it hurts plus I feel like i'm going to pass out and let me add my fever of 103.

Tell them you were too sick to move, out of your bed. You were coughing/hacking, had dry mouth, chest pains (men's minds wander, just as the sound of the last two..), congestion, was sneezing/spraying all over the place, blowing your nose, etc.
Tell them, next time.. you'll come to work and let them SEND YOU HOME as you thought about staff & customer's health -- and you're being contagious/spreading germs.
P.S. -- Chicks with a fever, are the hottest.

If you had the flu, you would not even want to see a computer, let alone be on here asking questions. You would be flat on your back in bed. I know from experience of having the flu.
I do admire the fact that you are not at work spreading what you do have around. Especially since you work in food service. I don't see much you can do and no, you don't want to try faking a note. I guess if they fire you for being honest then that's their loss.

If you really are sick and have the flu then you need to talk to your boss and just tell them look I seriously have the flu but the problem is I don't have a doctor, nor can I afford a doctor and on top of that most people don't need to go to the doctor for the flu but you certainly don't need to be at work because it is highly contagious especially working in a restaurant. Just see what he/she says and hopefully they will be understanding and hopefully you have a good reputation with them because if you don't they might not really care what you have to say. If he gets an attitude you could mention the law but that should be a very last resort.

Go to an Urgent Care or a Clinic. If you have health insurance then your co-pay shouldn't be too bad. If you really are sick then they can write you a note and maybe even give you some antibiotics. If your work is being unreasonable there's not much you can do about it. You are sick and unless they want their guests to be sick, they should let you rest. Feel better!

I don't think they can fire you for missing one day of work. I use to work in a restaurant and you only needed a doctor's excuse if you were out 3 or more days. Doesn't sound like a good place to work if they are that cold-hearted that they would fire someone at Christmas for being sick :-(

will if you have the flu go to a walk in clinic they can give you a note . but you can make payments on any bill they give you. some doctors have a grant and can see you free i forget the name of the program i think is slide and scale is what it think it is called. look in to it. you want to save your job then you would have to go see a doctor. it shouldn't be too much. that you can make like two payments on the visit. not like they will go after any thing of yours if you have a 100 doctor bill.

Ask your parents for money for the doctor's visit. They care about your health the most. Get the doctor's note to your place of employment and take a few days off. Get your rest, drink fluids- feel better!

I may be out of line here, but I'm thinking your health is a tad more important than a job. True, you need to work to eat to STAY healthy, but, all in all, priorities must take precedence.
I have some advice for you which you may or may not want to give your attention. You have flu-like symptoms but only mention being exhausted. Have you considered your diet? By that, I mean, improving it? More vegetables and fruits, less quick and easy? I could be out on a limb here but I'm guessing you don't drink your orange juice like you should. Work will still be there...chill and refocus.

Make the fake one and if you get caught and they fire you have to find another job. You can go the emrgency room and pay the bill a little at a time later.

If you want to keep your job follow protocol and get that which is missing.(I.E.-a physicians statement).
If you have trouble obtaining one visit an emergency room at night by then the hospital shouldn't be crowed.
