I dont have any cream cheese, so cream cheese frosting is out of the picture

I see alot said chocolate. that a great answer, it just that.... i want to color the frosting into green and red for the holidays. Sorry. I was thinking of buttercream.... I just dont know if I have tried or not.

A real simple chocolate frosting is the following
Take a stick of butter softened
add a box of powered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
6 Tablespoons of cocoa powder
Mix until creamy. If a more intense chocolate flavor is wanted add additional cocoa powder. Spread on cool cupcakes
I would think if you wanted a vanilla flavor leave the cocoa powder off and add the food coloring that you want for whatever color you want. Might taste it before adding to cupcakes to make sure more vanilla is not needed.

I basically use Hyvee form white cake mix. (that's a Midwest keep) so basically any favourite cake mix. I mix it like the guidelines say, then separate into 4 or 5 different bowls. Then in each bowl I upload a special colour of nutrition coloring and combine. Then I layer the quite a few colorings on excellent of one yet another as calmly as i will interior the cupcake pan. cook dinner for 20 minutes and they arrive out with colourful rainbow layers! they are so beautiful and relaxing! little childrens will love them, I do and that i'm 16 :) Then i exploit undeniable vanilla frosting and likewise make that different colorings with nutrition coloring, then I upload sprinkles. they are so good and the hues cause them to relaxing! basically google rainbow cupcakes of you don't understand what I advise, good success :)

butter cream ' make it yourself . soften butter or margarine add powdered sugar and vanilla and some milk and refrigerate for 1 hour . wallah and you have buttercream frosting .
