I know this is not a dating question but it is answers in this category that I am referring to. I am so tired of reading people's answers that say "learn to spell" or they tell the person asking a question that the problem is NOT that they are lonely or sad or scared or even confused but rather it is because their intelligence is SO low because they can not spell ... wtf is that all about? Who decided you were going to be the grammar police? None of us are perfect and its upsetting to me that there are people trying to get HELP on here because they are scared or worried and they feel lost and some a-hole decides to be a smart *** with them. Obviously you can SPELL and you must be SO educated but you need some lessons on sensitivity and compassion! Why are people like that even on this website? Does it make you feel better to be a jerk or does it make you feel superior because your grammar is better than that of a stranger? Why do you even bother answering a question! Get over yourself!

Although I certainly agree that some of the questions are extremely hard to read how does that give YOU the right to slam them on their spelling??? Just move to the next question that you can read and understand and that you believe is worth the effort it takes for you to give an answer to this "poor educated" person. Oh and for the record Andy ... yes it is incompassionate to tell someone that their partner probably left them because of grammar. That right there ... is what upsets me so much! YOU are not better than anyone else ... try to remember that!

KK - I posted this not because I have received complaints like this (which I have not) but because it is frustrating to see people asking for help and people like you acting like you are better than them. I am glad that you have your communication skills so highly developed and even more that you are movin towards a "higher paying job". I think it is wonderful that you regard yourself so highly. My only point has been that there is NO reason for the rude remarks as you can simply move to another question. If you don't like the question or how it is written ... move on! No one MADE you read the question and in fact you CHOSE to read it. What makes you feel at that point that you have the right to criticize their grammar and to what purpose does it serve? Do you believe that your opinion is so highly sought after that they will see the error of their ways and make the effort to work on their grammar? Time to come down off your high horse!

Well KK you just made my point .. so thank you!! You are writing to these people to be a jerk ... and you said it. "... if you're going to write like an idiot, someone; be it me or someone else, is going to comment". I will say it again ... what makes you so much better than this person? You grammar will only get you so far in this life, after that you as a person gets called into question. Might want to think about that before you go bashing other people on a weakness.

i agree with this lady.

you should answer the question because you can help and care enough to take the time out to write to someone in need, not so that you can belittle their spelling! :)

The majority of those comments are directed at the questions that are written text-style, or "ebonics".

Questions with a few simple spelling errors or typos rarely get slammed, as far as I can tell.. I don't see it happening too much, anyway. Those who slam people for a simple typo are just trolls, and to be poorly rated/reported and ignored.

On the other hand, ppl hoo rite ther qstn lyk ths are either a product of a very poor educational system (No Child Left Behind WTG), too young to be asking questions unsupervised on the internet, illiterate, or very immature.

if ths iz teh bst thy kin doo 2 mke thmslves undrstoood, they have more serious problems than not having a date on Saturday night, and probably need to get off the internet and go read a book.

Spelling or grammar mistakes are one thing, but things like.
"she left me fo mi bst m8 nd i dunt no how 2 get her back in my lfe?"
Is not only lazy, but it also gets so bloody annoying when you can barely figure out what they are trying to say. Things like that can also be a reason as to why someone might leave someone, so is it really being incompassionate to actually say that?

Edit:
I never said probably, I said might have. If it is an intelligent person, then yes, they may leave a partner who isn't willing to try and seem reasonably intelligent. So I still fail to see how answering their question, with a reasonable possibility is incompassionate.

It isn't a matter of perfection, but a matter of effort. When someone asks a question with poor spelling and no regard for grammar or syntax, it usually means they're just too lazy to touch those extra keys. In my opinion, If you want a quality answer, you have to ask a quality question.

There are not any authentic spells which will make you levitate or be invisible, those are illusions. authentic magick, like witches use is extremely plenty against the christian church homes ideals. in case you have an pastime in something, as consistently you're able to desire to learn it. the only thank you to truly comprehend what you believe, do on no account be afraid to learn!

I am a professional writer and frankly, people who cannot take the time or effort to write properly irritate the crap out of me. I am fully understanding of a typo here and there, a missed comma, whatever. I do it too. Lord knows there are few mistakes in the body of my answer.

It's when you write like a complete idiot that I get annoyed with. If you wish to be taken seriously, then use as close to proper English as possible so others can understand you. Attempting to justify your ignorance with rants like these don't help your case much. You CHOSE to be uneducated and/or illiterate, not those of us who took the time to become educated and learn to communicate effectively.

Teenagers these days simply suck at writing and don't understand that professionally the poor habits can and will affect them in their careers. But hey, if being ignorant works for you, then by all means go ahead.

But in the end, when people like myself are achieving the higher paying jobs because we have the spelling and writing skills, don't bother complaining.

Either get educated or quit pissing and moaning that people dare to address your stupidity.

EDIT:

I'll come down off my high horse when people stop justifying their ignorance with even more ignorance. I don't think I am better than anyone per se but if you're going to write like an idiot, someone; be it me or someone else, is going to comment.

A typo here and there is one thing.

Writing like this:

OMG so lyke tha otha day ma bf came ova ma howse nd lyke he wnted 2 do tha nastii but ii rele dint wanna nd he got all pizzed @ me. wut shuld ii do?

It is just ignorant no matter how hard you try to justify it. Yes, I CHOOSE to read those posts but people also CHOOSE to write like morons. Really now, these people honestly shouldn't piss and moan when it is evident as to why their spelling and grammar is picked on.

If it were like this:

So like the otha day i went too my bfs house and he wanted to do tha nastie but i realy didnt wanna and he got like pissed off. what shuld i do?

Those don't irk me near as much. There is indication of some effort. Point being: If you're going to willingly and consciously compose a question like a moron, you have ZERO room to b*tch when someone calls you out.

Chill Baby! Yahoo Answers is a novelty. Something to do to pass the time. Some questions are funny , that require a funny answer. Some are serious, they should have a serious answer. Some questions don't deserve a answer. My answer to you is BLAH BLAH BLAH, your opinion is just one of millions! Also just to keep the spelling tidy.....I use spell check! Have a fun Holiday season!!!!

Because we want to understand them! That's why spelling was INVENTED! That's why there are DICTIONARIES!! So you can get off your lazy butt and write your letters so we can understand what you're saying.

This is all that moron's fault, the one in the oval office. He made stupidity and mediocrity a standard, made it acceptable and now all these people show up writing absolute nonsense and gobbledygook, looking for clues.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Yeah, the spelling police are rude. Some of the text speak is hard to decipher, though.
