it is more "reliable" (in the US anyway) because that is what the majority of the people believe in.

It is only more reliable and accurate if you consciously preserve your ignorance.
When you live in a small hole, you can't see much, and your understanding of the world is limited to what you have been exposed to. Ignorance is a small hole that a mind resides in.
Letting go of ignorance is scary, it really is. This is because work is scary and curing ignorance takes about 15 years of hard work. It is work that you have to finish once you start it too. I don't respect the ignorant, but I do understand them.
Believers are the mental counterpart to those fat people riding around in scooters at Wal-Mart. I don't like work anymore than anyone else, but dammit, I refuse to be fat and stupid.
The plus side is that at 32, many think I look 25 and I am smarter than most 50 profs. It was frickin' hard work and I will be damned if seek the approval of ignorant, fat believers.
So, in direct response to your query: Christianity is more accurate for people because they choose to live small existences in small worlds where nothing challenges their small ideas. Alchemy and Astrology are pretty accurate too if you don't allow yourself to examine the results objectively.
EDIT:
To pugwashjw, the bible hasn't changed?
Seriously, are you joking?

The only validity a religion requires is that it satisfies the spiritual needs of the individual. I could pick up all the dogma and doctrine of Christianity, but substitute Fred for God and the Buddha for Christ, and take all the teachings of the Buddha and say they came from Jesus and not the Buddha. I would then be a Christian, because I choose my religion by what it satisfies within me, not who it's about. That's why I believe God is God regardless of religion, and you do what you must do to reach Him. Just like in life, some of us are born athletes, some accountants, some poo flingers. You do what is right for you to do. Christianity is no more or less valid or reliable, or accurate than any other religion.

What matters is the accuracy of the doctrine contained in the Bible. Of course it is not 100% accurate, an example is the change of names. The epistle named Jude in the Greek is really Judas. Mary, is in the Greek Miriam. But these things do not alter or ruin the doctrinal content. People fight over this all the time. The best way to know for sure what is what, is to act on what you know, and it becomes apparent to you if what you do is the truth or not. I think too many say much, and don't do as much.

They aren't !!!!!! They only think they are the best !!!! Christains are very hateful people ! Look at the war over here in the Middle East - what are we killing for??? It sure isn't our national secuirty, it is all about oil, power in the region and money !
We Americans are the fools ! We allowed Bush to rip off the tax payers over this war, and when it is all said and done who is going to pay the bill? It sure will not be the rich and famous, it will be you !
Most Christains are two-faced ! They pearch one thing and do another ! Then when the Gov't tries to take away their rights they sit back and act like nothing ever happened. Time will tell the truth

I do not think it is more reliable or accurate than other religions. There is a historical record of Christ, but Mohammed is also a historical figure, as was Buddha.
I believe that to think we (as Christians) have all the answers is just being arrogant.
We can learn from all faiths, as long as we keep an open mind.
I believe that the Higher Power comes to us in ways that we can understand, and that there is not just one path to God's grace and love.
Christ is one way that the Higher Power reaches out to us, and the stories and lessons of Christ, and his teachings of love and tolerence (which are often forgotten by his followers) can speak to us in the midst of our lives; because he lived with us a knows what it is like to be human as well as divine.
Christ calls on all of God's children to come together in faith, despite our differences. Having faith does not mean knowing it all, but believing in spite of all the many questions we may have. By sharing our faith and being open to the faith of others, we can only benefit.

I can't say what makes it more accurate or reliable than any other religion. All I can say is that FOR ME it is the most rational world view I have encountered. Atheism-materialism leaves to many questions unanswered for people with a sense of wonder. Buddhism is a death-wish. Islam is a murder-suicide cult. Hinduism rejects the idea of progress and the Indian people never would have accomplished any level of material welfare if not for British (Christian) influence.
Christianity allows us to live our lives in freedom and be creative, with assurance that we are loved by our Creator and destined to be with him in the afterlife.

The fact that the Bible has survived for so long. and virtually unchanged.
And there can only be ONE true God.
The whole universe has been built by Him.
And He MUST love us, because we have done so many bad things against his standards, He has every reason to destroy us outright. He has not done so. To do so would be to say that He, God himself, has made a mistake in creating us. But being perfect, God does not make mistakes.
Even when wickedness was throughout the earth, God found Noah and his family were doing the right thing and he saved them. And destroyed everything else.
But had Noah save the animals.

Nothing. The Muslims believe their religion is more accurate, and so do the Jews, and the pagans, and the Wiccans, and those who still worship Zeus, etc. etc.

I can't tell you the answer to that, or at least not one you will understand. Everyone on this earth has different reason's for believing and trusting in there faith. I am a Southern Baptist. I know in my heart that my God is the right one for me. I can't tell you that yours is wrong, I don't know anything about him. I think that when it comes down to it in the end, we will be judged by our actions here on earth. Were we kind to others, did we love with open hearts. Things like that are what I find important.
