Is it possible for a Christian to be deceived to the point where they become a tool of the enemy?

If not, why not?

If so, do you think you could fall into such deception?

I will share my thoughts when I give best answer.

yes. yes. yes. I have not only been the victim of deceived Christians, I have also fallen into deceitful traps myself. The biggest lie that has infiltrated the church and is a HUGE tool of Satan is legalism. The latest being liberalism. Both are detrimental and both are used by Satan. We are humans. We walk in human flesh. We can be deceived by even the most mundane daily tasks like ....

Ignoring the homeless person or the lonely child up the street. ("they don't want people involved in their business. You've got enough to tend to")

Judging another person and the sin in their life while believing that you are better than them in some way. A complete lie and used by Satan in the church daily.

Believing that you are not good enough to be used by the Lord. That you can't contribute with your current talents. (total lie and so many people believe it)

Here's one that gets most every Christian I know ... "God's grace is sufficient .... except what I did was soooo bad that God must not see me the same. He may forgive me but I'm damaged now." Satan tries to make us believe that we can't forgive ourselves and lies to us by saying God hasn't truly forgiven us either.

The deceptions are countless. Anyone who says that they can't be deceived is ....... deceived.

Many Christians are deceived. Look at all the false doctrines of man, all the different religions.

I really don't think religion was in God's wonderful plan, I think it was about having a relationship with Him and not being stuck in a bunch of man made rules and doctrines.

It is very possible to be deceived, that is why we need to test what we hear and make sure it lines up with God's word.

Once they start believing these false doctrines, then the enemy can use them to start getting others to think something untrue of the Bible.

At one point, before I was a Christian walking the way I should, I had my father who is a LDS would come to me and continuously tell me that this was God's chosen people.

Something in my Spirit told me, this is not true. I gave my father the benefit of the doubt, I research the LDS to great extent, I tested and I checked to see if it lined up with God's word.

Now, instead of just telling my dad, "no, I don't think that is for me", I can give solid reasons as to why it is not for me and that it does not line up with God's word, being another false doctrine.

God bless Brother ;0)

Absolutely yes.
Satan does his greatest work through the church.
People like Richard Dawkins and Carl Pagan (Sagan) are really no threat to Christianity. Their following is far to small to even be measured. The real danger is Satan using supposedly preachers, pastors, priest, or men of God to lead the masses astray. How many people follow the pope? Think of how many millions of people follow charlatans like Benny Hinn, JIm Bakker, Robert Tilton, Ted Haggard, Paul and Jan Crouch, Creflo and Daffy Dollar, Paula White, T D Jakes, Oral Roberts, Joyce Meyers, Bob Jones (not the Bob Jones University guy), Katheryn Kulman, and on and on. Look at all the people who followed Jim Jones to their death.
Yes- Christians can be deceived-this is why serious Bible study is so important.

Certainly.

Remember that Eve was deceived to the point where she became a tool of Satan to draw Adam into rebellion against God. She was made perfect and we have a fallen nature to start with so if anything, we are more likely to be deceived. Hence we are given greater warning in Scripture to test all things and only hold to that which is good.

Hope that helps.

As i'm specific you're conscious, Christians around the worldwide disagree on lots of issues. The Amish don't think in using modern contraptions, yet they actual seem very commit Christians. Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox and Catholics can not agree on which thank you to pass themselves. some Christian church homes have faith that genuine Christians must be vegetarian. some Christian church homes have faith that the Sabbath is on Saturday, not Sunday. The Mormons have faith that their founder replaced right into a "latter day saint." And do you comprehend what? There are even some Christian church homes that there is not something incorrect with being gay. So who're you going to have faith? Which Christian church is "precise?" Are any of them precise?

yes, it is possible. being a christian does not mean you are not human with all human failings. Self-righteousness and Pride can both cause you to become so sure that you are right and you know the truth that you fail to realize that you are no longer following God, even while convincing yourself you are.

do I think I could fall into such deception. I hope and pray not.

To narrow a question down to the religion of the person answering is absurd. All people are capable of being deceived in such a way. Open your eyes and stop seeing things through a religious haze of ignorance.

It's your responsibility to see to it that you are not deceived.

Mat 24:4-5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Gal 2:11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

Jim Bakker gave his life to Jesus in prision & now serves him with his whole heart Jack, try painting with a smaller brush.

Mae needs to read the bible more often.

Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Anyone can be deceived, even Christians. Sometimes, I think even more so for Christians. They tend to believe as they are taught instead of doing as the Bible commands them."Study to show thyself approved". We have to know/follow God's Word for ourselves.

I believe that our actions and words can still harm others....and satan desires that we pick up the weapons of the flesh (anger, argument, revenge) when we get angry, instead of asking God to help us deal with a situation.

I do not believe that any born again believer can be made to do anything by satan. The bible says, no temptation comes to us that God does not give us a way out.
