Last night I ate some walnut fudge and had an awful allergic reaction. The doctor thinks I most likely developed an allergy to walnuts. Question is, if I'm allergic to walnuts... am I now allergic to all tree nuts?

No, you may NOT be allergic to all tree nuts, however a CapRAST test can determine what tree nuts you are allergic to. It's nothing to mess around with though. With nuts, it's difficult to avoid the nuts you are allergic to since many are made on the same lines as the ones you may not be. Ex. My son has outgrown most of his tree nut allergies, but because they are on machines with peanuts, he can't have them. It's the oils in niuts that makes them so tricky.

You better be extra careful about trying tree nuts until you can get tested. These nut allergies are a real pain! Be sure to have a couple of Benadryl capsules with you when you leave home just in case you have an allergic reaction. It won't stop the reaction like an Epi Pen but it will control some symptoms. Best of luck to you!!

Please...please....please ask your doctor this question. There are some very specific test that he can administer that will establish what type of nuts you are allergic too. This is nothing to play around with and a severe allergic reaction can make you dead...I'm serious.

I'm not sure, it's likely... So i wouldn't risk it, maybe you should have an allergy test or something to see what you can eat.

Hope this helps, and have a great christmas!

Not necessarily. But you certainly would do well to be very careful.
