Our father in heaven gave Moses the ten commandments to give to God's children (us), and one of the commandments says that we shall not kill. This commandment did not say thu shall not kill except over oil, money, or power, or just because President Bush says so ! If you kill your sole will go to hell and it doesn't matter if your are muslim, jewish, christain or any other religion. People need to get over this seperation because of race, religion, sex, and so forth. We are all brothers and sisters in the eyes of our lord. It doesn't matter what the bible or the quran says we are and always will be brothers and sisters. The bible says that the gates to heaven is wide but only a few will enter into the kingdom of heaven. God must have known that we as a human race wouldn't follow his commandments. Our lord in heaven gave mankind ten simple commandments to follow, but we can't even follow these laws nevertheless those created by man.

The answer I would give to your 1st question is: fear and ego.

My comment on the rest of your question is, God did know that we wouldn't be able to follow the 10 (much less the innumerable others in the Old Testament) commandments, so He sent Jesus to supplant them with a new commandment: Love one another as I have loved you.

It's true that perfect love drives out all fear. It's also true that real love isn't egocentric. So it seems to me, that as soon as we as a species learn to love -- no fear and no ego problems -- we'll start acting like the children of God that we are.

This is the price of free will. If we do not want to be God's robots, then it means having the ability to decide for one's self what is right and what is wrong. Some people, naturally, are going to misuse that right. Think about it this way: when you were a kid, if you had siblings, did you and your siblings always get along? Probably not. Does that mean you were not all children of your parents? Well... maybe one of you was adopted, but probably not. My point: Ten Commandments or not, people are what they are. I think you are right about the ideal, but if the ideal existed, we wouldn't need the Ten Commandments or the kingdom of heaven or anything at all, really. That is one reason why we are fighting over right and wrong.

Here is another factor: the Ten Commandments say "Thou Shall Not Kill." And yet, immediately following this, God lead the Israelites into the desert where many of them died, and eventually they entered another land and fought and killed people to establish themselves. God lead the Israelites into battle, time and time again. Some people (I'm not one of them) would read this as a contradiction, and it is a fair argument on the surface. My point: the Bible is complex. Life is complex. People are complex. It just isn't as simple as "follow the 10 Commandments."

God never intended on Man to be so evil. Satan corrupted us w/ Adam & Eve. I agree that people need to get over religion and race and focus on the PERSON. I grew up in a Christian School and attended every meeting, choir practice, youth or teen activity they ever had until I graduated. Sadly, church was eventually shoved down my throat by my mother after I moved out at the age of 17. My boyfriend was a sin due to his skin tone despite the fact that I myself am mixed. Now, it's hard for me to even pray much less go to a church. I'm praying that God will restore my faith so that I may be closer to Him. I hope and pray that as long as a person loves and has a personal relationship w/ God and tries to do his good works that God will reward them one day. Our God is a God of Love and forgiveness. It does sadden me that our world is becoming so cruel. As far as man not being able to follow simple commandments, that just HUMAN nature! That's why we have our own FREE WILL and sometimes the Devil can cloud our judgement as to what's right and wrong. God bless and Happy Holidays!

I don't think we are fighting over right and wrong, we all know when something we do is wrong, some people just choose to ignore thier conscience. The bible says "straight & narrow is the way", that there is only One God and to go to heaven we must repent & trust in Christ! We therefore must believe this is the truth or choose to believe something else.
We are all sisters and brothers but Love does not say "oh, your sick lay down & die.' Love says, 'your sick, well this is why and here's what you need to do to get better or I will go look for someone who knows how to help you get better"
That's why Christians want to tell people about Christ the only cure for hell!

i understand what you are saying but you have to understand god the father Almighty gave us not only the gift/power of making new life but he also gave us freedom of choice and its simple who ever chooses to Neal down before Jesus Christ out lord and savior to witness Satan being locked away into the bottom less pit is going to heaven those who dont well you already know the rest but besides that we are only human we are very fragile if we had nothing to fight over or nothing to protect we would all suffer and perish because we are a challenging race of people. You are exactly right about we are all brothers and sisters despite the race and sex and so fourth but you have to look at it this way like we are born into American and the way of Americans are totally different from the ways of Egyptians or Indians so to speak and if we were to go there things would be different we couldn't adjust so its like we have no choice but then again we can learn to adjust and adapt...

Moses did not give to "us" the ten commandments. Christians were never a party to that covenant.

You sure are big on assumptions. Ever stop and think that making assumptions is a sure fire way of accepting and believing falsehoods and deceptions?

We fight because we are stupid, do you think that god actually intended to make the world full of hate? this was satin (devil) he does all of the bad things, but there is always more good than bad in the world.. and withought the bad things we wouldn't apricciate the good things in our lives, and in the bible jesus said, " everything i do, i do because i love you" so don't worry about it.. it happens the way it does for a purpose that won't always be clear to man kind.. you just have to have faith and pelieve it will turn out in the end.

first, you involved the president when you asked why people kill for oil, money, or power... the united states is not profiting from the war in iraq, in fact, our country is bleeding money in order to protect innocent people from the tyranny that terrorist groups impose over the general public. think of mostly illiterate fanatical fundamentalist that have been rewarding for hating/ killing the infadel - their infadel is ANYONE who doesn't believe exactly what they believe, talk about intolerance... they set IED's off with the express purpose of killing as many people as possible.

And to speak to your point about God's children... God gave us the ten commandments, but he also gave us free will or at least the illusion of free will, and you may have forgotten, he also has an evil former first mate that entices weak people to do his will and harm upon others..

wish it was as simple as holding hands and singing cum ba ya, but these facts have been argued since the dawn of time. As many people that spread the word of God and good will, there always be people that want what they can;t have - power, money, sex....

because we're not all children of God, we have to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, before we're His chlidren. Our Father in Heaven gave Moses the Ten Commandments to give to his chosen, but disobeying people Israel.
