Personally, I give something to everyone in my department, regardless of our personal relationship. To me the season isnt about playing favorites, its about giving. I would give to others outside my department, but dont have to money. Makes me feel bad when I get something from someone I didnt get anything for

We pull names for the secret Santa game.
We all get along pretty well in this office, but this year I did get the name of somebody who isn't my favorite person and vice versa. I got her some good stuff, though: Crate and Barrel Christmas ornaments. She loved them. Who knows? Maybe this will help improve our work relationship.

Yes, inexpensive gifts like candy, and to my friends I gave Bath & Body Works foaming hand soap. The co-workers I don't like just got a Christmas card or nothing at all. If they really wanted something then they should be a little nicer. But then again, maybe I'm not someone they want to get to know. Either way no harm no foul. They don't get me anything so I don't get them anything. Good luck with your gift giving this year!

I now only give to select ones. 4 out of 8. i do keep some extra "goodies" in my desk with a box and a blank nametag though just in case i need extras.
For guys, sears has tool sets for ~$5 around thanksgiving.
For girls, Bath and body works has a big sale after Christmas so I buy a few lotion bottles.

I give gifts to friends with whom I have a personal relationship outside of work. Other than that, I buy pizza for the whole office for lunch one day the week before Christmas, and that's that.

We draw names, set a $ limit and ask them to write down 3 things they would like. It just gets to be so ridiculous to try and buy for everybody. This way we all end up with 1 gift of our choice.

Yes, give everyone a gift. Even if you don't like them. They will work better, and maybe later on you guys will like each other and become more friendly.

I baked a bunch of Christmas cookies and put together individual holiday plates for those in my area - tied with a bow and card.
