I believe it should be the wedding band closest to the heart as the symbol of love.

Wedding band than Engagement.

Traditionally it is the wedding band on the bottom with the engagement ring on top. I have seen the odd person wear them the other way around tho, but not often. And to me that looks really odd!!!
I wont be taking my wedding band off at all when my beautiful man slips it onto my finger, but there are times when I do take my engagement ring off and probably always will. (gardening, baking, etc) So it makes sense to me to wear the wedding ring first.

Prior to the wedding you are only wearing the engagement ring after the wedding takes place your wedding band goes on first. The wedding band goes closer to your heart.

Ask Dear Abby.
Some place the wedding ring on outside of the engagement ring.
Some remove the engagement ring and place the wedding rind on the finger and replace the engagement ring to the outside of the wedding ring.
Some women only wear the wedding ring, some may wear both and some don't wear either after they marry.

I think it varies and I am not sure if there is a certain "rule for it... but here's how I see it ...

During the wedding, take the engagement ring off, have the band put on, then put the engagement ring back on ..

reason .. simple... there are things we all do in day to day life where we would need to take the engagement ring off, or at least want to (gardening, no dirt in that ring baby) ...
So when you do need/want to take it off, you wont need to remove the wedding band to do so, and you can have that on still....

Second.. the band is closer to your heart.

The tradition is wedding band first, engagement ring next but I actually wear my promise ring then my wedding ring. My engagement is put away.

Before you go up the aisle, move your engagement ring to the other hand. Then when the wedding band is put on that is the way it should be. Then move your engagement ring back after the ceremony.

I was told that it should be wedding ring and then engagement, that is the way I always wear mine but I would think if you have a rock for an engagement ring I would put it on first so it doent hide the wedding ring!
