Can I just Take My Cable Modem Off My Computer, take it to my room, and plug it up?

If you have a cable hookup in you room then yes. Just hook it up in there and you should be good to go. Make sure you plug the ethernet cable into the PS3 before plugging in the modem though.

I do that with my 360. I am doing that till i get a new router my router broke.

It's possible, however sometimes (like in my case) you'll have to use router. I use D-link 604. Cheap, reliable and it's faster than wi-fi.

it works but buy a router it is more useful and it is cheap you dont need to buy a belkin the linksys ones are cheap
