I sympathize with you. I'm sure what you have is really painful. If you've seen a dermatologist and he's diagnosed it as acne, that's probably correct. The question on the prescription is how long were you on before you decided it didn't work? Sometimes it takes a little while for your body chemistry to change. Also, did you call you doctor and tell him it wasn't working? There may be other prescriptions you can try. Another option I've had friends use and work is that ProActiv Solution face cleanser/treatment. You might also try facial treatments where they deep clean pores and such, just be careful to not over do it as too many can make your skin dry and then overproduce oil causing the problem to just get worse.

The best advice for now is to keep your hands away from your face (causes more oils), don't pick at your pimples (causes scarring), try to eat healthy (though there's no proof that diet affects acne), and give any treatment time to work.

I hope you find something that works and makes you feel better.

It is acne. I have had friends that went through that and my stepdaughter is as well. It is hard to find a medicine that will help. Go back to your doctor and get a stronger medicine. Meanwile, I suggest not squeezing the blemishes or touching them. I also suggest staying away from a lot of fried foods as well as caffeine which would include chocolate, these types of things will all aggrevate the condition

another thing is keep clean pillow cases on your pillows. Wash your pillow cases a few times a week.

Finding the right medication and treatment is usuallly trial and error. If the first med didn't work, you should go back to the dermatologist so s/he can decide the next step in finding the right treatment.

It's very common to need to try a few different approaches before finding the one that works for you. The fact that one medication didn't work provides useful information in understanding what the condition is and what to try next.
