Goju Ryu is one style. There are no sub-styles.

There are charlatans who made up so-called katas and called their made up "art" : "something" Goju. But this is ridiculous.

First, an art is identified by the forms or the kata of that art. Example: someone made an art called "blank"-goju, but, they teach a kata called "empi". That is like saying that you have a pet fish but it is a bird in a cage.

Empi is a Shotokan kata and Shotokan is a watered down version of Shorin Ryu. Shorin is from the Okinawan city called Shuri (or Sui in the Okinawan dialect).

The kata is not related to the Naha city (Nafa) kata that Goju Ryu comes from.

You with me so far?

Now, there are also the Lineages of Goju Ryu. These come from the students of the Founder, Maegusuku Chojun. He taught them all according to their body types, strengths, etc.

You will see certain variations with the lineages. Another factor is whether the student was a senior or came later on. There are subtle differences also, due to Goju Ryu's stages of development throughout the Founder's research, study and practice.

So, there are no 6 styles of Goju Ryu, only different lineages and their subtleties.

Anything else is just chop suey-made up crap.
