I weigh about 225 and just started walking/jogging/running about 15-20 miles a week. I usually buy $15-20 Walmart sneakers and I am unhappy with them...I bought a pair of "walmart" shox and they broke within a few weeks.....I am interested in Nike Shox, but I am not sure if they can last....I am most concerned about rebound and sneakers that make running feel good. I am heavy and I run on pavement. Any suggestions, Price is no factor.

Stay out the Wal-Mart shoe aisle!!! Running shoes are made for just that purpose; everyone has their own preference...I prefer Adidas because they have a wide base, are very supportive & lightweight and I love the ClimaCools since I live in Florida. Check out some different variations at: http://www.roadrunnersports.com/

Do not shop for shoes at Wal-mart ever again!!! Your feet will love you for it!!!

before you buy any shoe you should get a gait analysis.Any professional running store can dot it for you like the running room or nike lounge. There are three types of running shoes
1.high cushioned or neutral shoes- for those with high arches
2. Motion control- for low arches
3. average arches--stability shoes

Every brand carries a specfic shoe for each type. If you choose the wrong type you could do yourself more injury. All brands carry very good shoes but some runners are more loyal to one brand than another. Running is a very serious sport , i would advise staying away from 15 dollar walmart sneakers. The most popular running shoes are

1. nike air peagsus2007
2 Asics 2130
3 Asics nimbus 9
4. Nike Air vomero+2
5.new balance 857

The best way though is to go to your local sports store and try them out yourself and see which shoe is right for you.

Don't expect shoes to last you very long until you pare off some weight. But you surely do need better shoes than what you've described.

I'm a real Saucony fan, and I buy Saucony Cohesion at Academy for 39.95. They have about the same cushion as the Jazz. I suggest you try them as an intermediate shoe to give yourself time to research highly cushioned shoes for the heavier runner.

Good Luck

I run alot too, and I like new balance ALOT they are really comfy and they give good support for running. I had a pair of shox but I didn't like them, they made me feel like I was wearing platform shoes or high heels and they weren't very comfortable, but I would go try a bunch of shoes on and whatever ones feel they best, you should get those ;)

nike airmax 360. Very expensive but will give you the best cushioning of any running shoe. Don't go for shox, it's just a gimmick, they look good but are not good for running.

Ryka shoes are da bomb----most shoe companes use the same molds to fit both male and female feet, but Rykas actually use 'male shaped' and 'female shaped' feet for the relevant genders. I am on my feet a lot at work and need a really good, strong shoe, and the lady at Foot Locker told me to get Rykas.

I've been told New Balance are great. Higher number model means more cushion.

I really like the Jazz by Saucony. It's simple and really cushiony.
