well from what i've heard from opthalmologists
is that you shouldnt use eye drops that say
they get the red out like visine because
all those do is make the blood vessels smaller
instead you should use something like Patanol

I am also a contact wearer and I either use saline solution (same that you store and clean your contacts with) or if that is not handy, I carry rewetting drops and put a couple of those in each eye when the contatcs become dry. These rewetting drops are made specifically for contacts and would probably be best for your eyes.

If you are using the drops when you have your lenses in, you need to use an eye drop solution that says it is safe for use with contacts. Not all OTC eye drops are...
I think you can use regular eye drops when your contacts are not in...

Bausch and Lomb makes a "lens rewetting" drop specifically for contact lens wearers. Never use Visine or any drop that says not for contact lens wearers.

Do not use any old eye drops. It must say for contact lenses. Some good brands are "Blink", "Blink and Clean", and "Aquify". I have tried all of them and never had a problem.

I have this problem, too. I find that when I'm wearing contacts, regular saline solutions don't really last that long. I have a couple of prescription eyedrops that I use instead.
