Yes, you have to format the SD card so the the necessary folders will be created. You will have to do the formatting of the card on the camera manually.
Go to the settings, media cards, then format.

It's not so much "formatting" in the sense of formatting a hard drive, more like "establishing the necessary folder structure". But yes, most if not all cameras will do that automatically.

the only reason I see why this does not artwork is that your present card reader does not help SDHC. Get yet another one, a greater value-effective one that recognizes SDHC and plugs on on your workstation's USB port. SD taking part in cards with 2Gb or much less, use FAT16. greater advantageous than that could be SDHC taking part in cards that ought to be formatted to FAT32. in case you have the excellent card reader, you are able to format manually using the workstation even though it quite is often maximum secure to format a card using the digicam it is going to pass in to.

Of course they require formanting, you have to format the card yourself from time to time when there is no data present in the card, means pictures or video, otherwise all data will be deleted when formanting SD card

Yes, they do require formatting.
It will happen automatically when you put it in the camera for the first time and you shoot pictures..
