in a religious ceremony other than Wiccan, have you considered getting remarried in the tradition you now embrace? I am doing so, and I am using "Handfasting and Wedding Rituals" by Raven Kaldera & Tannin Schwartzstein to put together a beautiful ritual. They have great ideas! Any other ideas on where to find some pre-written rituals I could modify to suit us? (We are both followers of a tradition of Wicca/Witchcraft.) Blessed Yule!

Caveman, I've been legally married for many years, but in a Baptist ceremony. Its now time to make it official by having a Pagan wedding. : >

Prairiec, thank you...and you are right, it does have some wonderful material that I plan to use. It is the exact same book I have in my hands. I just want to make sure I do LOTS of research so we have a perfect wedding ceremony this time around. :)

Swordark, I totally understand. I'm glad that worked out for you.
This ritual will only have a few invites: Me, my hubby, the God and Goddess, the Elementals and maybe a totem animal spirit or two. :)

Nightwing, you are correct in that we do not need a handfasting as we have years ago outlasted that. What we are having is a Pagan Wedding and the ritual differs from a handfasting. There are handfastings and then there are actual weddings.

My husband (Lutheran) and I (Wiccan) were married in a Unitarian church but made no explicit reference to religion. We both sat down and figured out what we wanted included (and not included) in the ceremony and discovered neither of particularly desired reference to religion. Our gods know what's going on. We didn't feel a need to give them a shout-out. Our wedding was about us and our union so thats where we kept the focus. I wouldn't change a thing about it and feel no desire to go through a more handfasting-type of ceremony. (I associate handfastings with year and a day unions anyway. We were getting married, as in till death do us part.)

Why can't you just do a ritual at home on your anniversary? That would make more sense to me. I'm not any one religion in particular though so I'm not sure how I would really get married. :/ It sounds like a good idea if you want to though, especially if you wait till spring and have a beautiful, warm handfasting outdoors!

My husband is an Atheist and I'm a Pagan. We went down to the DMV, paid our $10, got the marriage license. Took it home - solomnized the marriage ourselves (which is legal in our state), and mailed it to the county clerk. We took the $12,000 we could have spent on a ceremony or rings (I hate jewelry and can't wear it) and put a down payment on a house instead. He and I didn't really feel a need for a ceremony. I also don't like having attention drawn to me so the whole idea of a bunch of people paying attention to me at once kinda creeps me out.
Merry Yule! :)

Nope, my husband is atheist. I had to fight with him to get married by someone who wasn't a judge the FIRST time. :)
