Pros: Vista is just a revamped XP, incorporating a new, ascetically pleasing graphical user interface (GUI). Some of its programs (Media Center, Defender, etc.) are very useful.

Cons: Although Vista will be suitable for the average end-user, gamers will find that many of its background programs use up valuable CPU clock cycles and RAM space. Additionally, the almost constant pop-ups will drive you crazy. Also, its many different types (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate) and the pricing thereof, is very annoying. If Microsoft had made Ultimate the price of Home Basic, it would get a lot more sales. Finally, Vista, like most new operating systems, has lots of bugs.

In conclusion, Vista is an acceptable option for the average end-user, however, many people, myself included, have chosen to "upgrade" back to Windows XP.

I just got a new computer with Vista and find that using programs I frequently used on XP are now much more complicated and the terminology for functions has changed. Several programs I used with XP are not compatible with Vista and this has caused much frustration since the software mfrs. haven't caught up with Vista.
The main problem I'm having now, is trying to attach photos & docs to my gmail & hotmail accts. It simply won't work. The attachments go to Windows Mail but when I send them no one receives them! Windows Mail doesn't allow me to use a LAN connection, so I'mstuck! I have Road runner cable connection. Any tips on what I can do?
Thanks.

Best Windows based OS I have used so far. I find it very secure and quite fast. One very old piece of software didn't work, but it was really old.

I installed Vista when it first came out and have not had a problem since. And I'm thinking it will only get better with the first service pack.

Like XP, it does need a bit of tweaking, but every OS does.
