Nope, you have to wait until after you're married. Sorry! Best wishes and congrats!

First of all, unless you want to pay a big expedite fee, you need to apply for your passport 6-8 weeks before you need it. Even then, you may have to rush it.
You can legally change your name any time, for just about any reason; so yes, you *could* legally change it before you get married. Name changes can be done through the court system at any time, but there's a ton of paperwork involved and the process takes a while. There's no way you could do a legal name change and still get your passport in a month.
Until you can change ALL your other documentation, do NOT change your passport information. You will run into serious problems and delays while traveling if the name on your passport doesn't match the name on your driver's license and on your plane tickets/other travel documentation. Get your passport in your current legal name so that it matches all other documents. Change everything after you get back from your honeymoon.
The reason I know about the name matching issue is because I've always been called by my middle name and not by my first name. My plane tickets had the name I always use (middle last), my passport has my whole name, and some other document had my first name, middle initial, and last name. It was an ordeal to prove that I am, in fact, myself. I almost missed an international flight because of said ordeal... Don't risk travel complications unnecessarily.
By the way: have a great trip!!

You should be able to travel on your current identification and marriage license rather than get a passport in your married name ahead of time. The passport office SHOULD issue you a new passport after the fact at no charge as long as your passport isn't up for renewal.

No, you can't- so your travel plans for your honeymoon have to be booked in your maiden name. The name on your ticket MUST match the name on your passport- they will NOT make exceptions. If you booked with your married name, call the travel agent now and get it changed, even if they charge you a fee. If you don't, you will be standing in the airport crying instead of starting your honeymoon.

You cant change your name until you have your marriage certificate from the county, however i was in the same situation about a passport so i found out that i could get my certificate up to 30 days before my wedding date(check to make sure the exact date in your county) so we went ahead and got it early and got our paperwork in for the passports in time. And when you do apply for your passport in the spot where it asks for your departure date put in a week early, they are guaranteed to get it to you by that date. And they say now its 10-12 weeks but it only took us about 4 weeks to get ours back so dont stress on that. But if you are leaving on your honneymoon right after the wedding then you need your passport with your maiden name on it because all of your id's will have your maiden name on them. And you can always change your name on your passport for free up to a year from getting it.
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!

It won't matter. You see just because you marry won't affect that your passport is in your maiden name. And no... you can't change your name before the wedding. You must show your marriage license to get that changed. Besides, most likely, between the wedding and the honeymoon there won't be enough time to officially change your name anyway..... as that process takes about 2 weeks. And if your going to wait that long for your honeymoon then you'll have time to get a new passport in the meantime as well.

I booked our honeymoon using my maiden name, and will change my name when we get back - that way there's no confusion.
Call the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-4USA-PPT & see what they recommend.

You can't change your name until AFTER you're married because you'll need to provide the marriage documents and you won't get those until after. Don't you have a state ID or something with your old last name on it??? You have your old name now so why would it make your passport no good?

Since you would not be able to change your maiden name to your married name until after the honeymoon you must keep your passport in your maiden name. Legally you cannot change your name through Social Security and the DMV until you have a certified marriage certificate indicating you are now legally married.
If you were to attempt to get your passport in your married name now you wouldn't get far nor would you legally be able to travel overseas given that even after marriage, you are still legally known by your maiden name. When you have your marriage certificate and have gone to SS, that is when you are legally known by your married name.
Until then, keep your passport in your maiden name and change it after you return.

You can change your name on your passport for free up to a year after you change your name. Why risk having that mess when you are getting ready to travel. Just change it after you get back.

you can't change your name until you have your marriage certificate, which you can't get until your married.
every single bride that gets married uses a passport with her maiden name for her honeymoon. it's perfectly fine. once you get your marriage cert, you can get a new passport.
