the holy spirit is not a person, it is the power of the Heavenly Father and His Son.

1 john 5:7 was not in the original text

you dont see any examples in scripture of people praying to the holy spirit

People use this verse to prove the Holy Spirit is a distinct being but if you think about it when did Ananias have a conversation with the Holy Spirit - he sold the land and then brought part of the money to the apostles. He lied to the apostles. The apostles having the holy spirit in them knew he was lying. Acts 5:3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?

All visions of Heaven show the Son at the Father's right hand, where does the Holy Spirit stand or sit. Did they forget to give him a throne? He's not there in any of the visions.

Psalms 104:30
You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth.

Job 26:13
By His Spirit He adorned the heavens; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent.

The ruach - spirit is also tranlsated wind or breath.

The Holy Spirit is more accurately portrayed as the third member of the Godhead, the Holy Ghost. The Spirit of God, however, can be synonymous with the Holy Ghost, but the influence of God the Father is not the Holy Ghost.

Confusing at times, but always think it is the Holy Ghost that manifests truth of all things to us and that through Him we can learn the important truths of the Gospel, about God, and of our own salvation.

Good Q.

HolySpirit - is GOD, one of the TRINITY.
He was promised to be with you and me when Christ was to leave this earth.
Reading Hebrews chp 7 - you can see an explanation of someone called 'Melchisedek' - that also can be referred to as the Holy Spirit, since the characteristics mentioned there points to the Trinity but it clearly excludes God the Father & Jesus Christ. So HolySpirit can be a real suit to that.

This Melchisedek appeared to Abraham in the form of a person when Abraham returned after defeating the kings (Gen 14.18)

It draws a Conclusion that the HolySpirit is GOD.

God Bless - Dani

According to Christianity, the Paraclete is not a spirit in the literal sense .. but a rational person. a person who has an individuality and self awareness .That's why you will find Christians referring to him as "he" not "it" .. when the word spirit is referred to as "it" in the rest of the bible.
The bible says about the Paraclete (the holly spirit): Joh 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Yet the Christians insist he is a God.

EDIT: You can check the different versions here .. All of them refer to the holy spirit as HE (unlike all the spirits in the bible).

"person' is a philosophical concept developed from the deliberations of Chalcedon, and Nicea (mainly) to state the dogma of the Trinity, teaching that there are three divine persons in God,
In Greek: hypostesis (meaning "mask"), ousia, homoousios; in Latin: hypotesis, substantia, consubstantialis; and in English: person, substance, and "of the same substance," because there is no one word translation for the last word.

Aristotle had defined humans using the old genus and species concept.

So 'person' is an attempt to explain teaching like the 'Holy Spirit'. The attempt to "explain" the Holy Ghost in terms of 'person' is therefore not at all like defining compounds in terms of chemical elements.

There are three persons in the Godhead; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

It is that still small voice that tells the flock to fill the collection plate. The more you give the more Holy Spirit you have dwelling withing you and it's a high-status thing to show your neighbors that you have a lot of the Holy Spirit at offering time.

The holy spirit is God's active force, which he uses to accomplish his will.
