How long is peanut butter good after the jar is opened?

Is a jar of peanut butter still good 6 months after it was originally opened and setting on a shelf in a cabinet?

After peanut butter is opened, it's shelf life is about 3 months. This depends on how fresh it is and how many preservatives there are. There probably isn't anything wrong with it after 6 months, it just won't taste as fresh. I'd throw it out after 9 months.

I WANT TO SAY 6-12 MONTHS AFTER OPENING IT.....
