At 9 weeks old he has no idea what his name is. Call him what you want, he will eventually learn it.

Of coarse u can. Ur dog will get used to it very quickly. The name on his certificate is his show name more than anything else. The last thing u have time to do when u have a scurrying puppy causing hell is shout Blue Minuet (slightly impractical)

Most purebreds have a show name and a name that they are called in the home. It is totally ok to call him Nemo

Your dog will have no problem learning a new name. People rescue five or six year old dogs and change their names. Most people I know have done that and the dog will usually learn his/her new name in a week or two.

Of course he can. You can name him anything you want to use for a call name.. He is still very young and can easily learn a name.... Gees 10 year old dogs can learn a new name if you want them to.

Yes, the puppy is still very young. When we got our dog at 10 weeks we named him Bullet, after about 3 weeks we changed it to Hooter (long story) but he was fine. It took a couple of days but he figured it out!

Sure, you can CALL him whatever you want, regardless of what the papers say.

For example, one of my girls is named Spice Up Your Life on paper, but I call her Chili.

My other dogs are:

Mustang Sally - Sally
Sumthin' T' Talk About - Gabby
Spice Girl - Ginger
Locomotion - Lucy
Cracklin' Rose - Rosie
Unchained Melody - Melody
Paint It Black - Smudge
Expedition Sailor - Sailor
Canadian Brass - Curry

Sure! My puppy was named Wiggles before we got her.

Just repeat Nemo when you ask him something.

Ex. Nemo, sit.
Nemo, good dog!
Come, Nemo!

He will get used to it in no time ;)

i adopted a dog who never had a name, just a number. I have had her for 2 months and she knows her name already. You can change her name. you can call it whatever you want without actually changing the papers.

I'm sure he will be able to learn his new name, because you'll be calling him that all the time instead of this old name.
