Recently there was a question on Y/A "DVD glorifying suicide bombing on sale for Muslim children in the UK.." ,
I would like to share some facts about suicide in ISLAM ....
From the below sayings of the last Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. it is clear that suicide for any reason or purpose is not allowed in ISLAM.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 5.518
(Sayings and doings of the last Prophet Muhammad s.a.w)
Narrated Sahl

During one of his Ghazawat (war), the Prophet encountered the pagans, and the two armies fought, and then each of them returned to their army camps. Amongst the (army of the) Muslims there was a man who would follow every pagan separated from the army and strike him with his sword. It was said, "O Allah's Apostle! None has fought so satisfactorily as so-and-so (namely, that brave Muslim)." The Prophet said, "He is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire." The people said, "Who amongst us will be of the dwellers of Paradise if this (man) is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire?" Then a man from amongst the people said, "I will follow him and accompany him in his fast and slow movements." The (brave) man got wounded, and wanting to die at once, he put the handle of his sword on the ground and its tip in between his breasts, and then threw himself over it, committing suicide.

.........Then the man (who had watched the deceased) returned to the Prophet and said, "I testify that you are Apostle of
Allah." The Prophet said, "What is this?" The man told him the whole story. The Prophet said, "A man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of Paradise, but he is of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire and a man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire, but he is from the dwellers of Paradise."

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 2.446
Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet said, "He who commits suicide by throttling shall keep on throttling himself in the Hell Fire (forever) and he who commits suicide by stabbing himself shall keep on stabbing himself in the Hell-Fire."

Saving Innocent Human life is ordained in the Quran.

Quran Sura 5 Al - Maida
We ordained for the Children of Israel that whoever kills a person, except as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land, it will be written in his book of deeds as if he had killed all the human beings on the surface of the Earth and whoever will save a life shall be regarded as if he gave life to all the human beings on the surface of the Earth. Yet, even though Our Messengers came to them one after the other with clear revelations, it was not long before, many of them committed excesses in the land.[32]

AJ-

The verses you are quoting are in the quran with reference with the people who had a pact with the Muslims... they broke the pact and attacked the muslims.... So it was Gods order to attack them.... As mentiontioned in the last verses above ... you can kill if they are creating mischief in the land...... i.e. they are after you.....to kill you.... and so it is told to the muslims by God to defend ourselves....

Well, it's true that Koran proscribes suicide and says that one who commits suicide shall re-enact the final act forever, in Hell.

However, the Truth is, also, that it is Muslims who're doing this very act, of suicide bombing.

I see that AJ has already given you a lot of other quotations from the Medina verses which, also, are used by the mullahs and imams in their Hate tirades.

My Question is : When will all of you Muslims, who say that these atrocities are un-Islamic, begin to help us root out these people who are Public Enemies, instead of helping them hide and escape justice?

When will you Muslims, who swear that this is against the Will of Allah, stand up against these people, who get their weapons and tools of mass destruction from your contributions collected from you in the mosques, and stop aiding and abetting them?

When will you Muslims, who say that you are appalled with these un-Islamic deeds being attributed to Islam, really stand up for the True Islam and have all these terrorists brought to Law?

After all, you people say that it's only 5 % or less of your population who do these things, so, why can't 95 % of you arrest and bring these scoundrels to Justice?

Peace.

Suicide bombings is definitely not part of True Islam.
To understand Suicide bombings and terrorism within the Muslim faith you need to go way back and study ancient Arabic Cultures and traditions.
Traditional cultures are embedded in all Religions..we see the same within Judaism and also Catholicism. People of all theist faiths find it difficult to separate the two. The Prophet Jesus even pointed out the traditional fallacies of the Jewish faith and the Judaic leaders were mad with him.
Remove tradition from Islam and there will be no terrorism or bombings.

Suicide bombing is not part of Islam at all! Surely as a "peaceful" and "intellectual" Shia Muslim of the world you should know that? Or is your hatred of other sects in Islam blinded you to understand the peaceful message of Islam? Instead of asking un-beneficial questions why not ask educational questions which will help to dispel myths and misconceptions about Islam or questions which tries to unify all sects? I don't know how this question is "inspired" by me or my comment from the link you've shown: "Wow - Your question clearly signals a hatred for Islam. Is Shiaism part of Islam or not?" I was merely referring to your surprising anti- sunni question hence my "wow" at the beginning, and also that no right-minded Muslim would submit such question in that manner other than to increase bad feelings. May Allah guide you and show you the straight path.

At one point I tend to agree with the non-muslims that when Islam forbids killings of innocent people, suicide bombing etc. then why the so called Jehadis behaving just the opposite ?

We see Fatwas & religious verdicts every now and then on petty things which serve no purpose for the Muslims as a society.

Couldn't our Ulemas just pass a fatwa over this issue which has badly effected our society and given a bad name to peaceful Islam ?

When these so called Jehadis are resorting to violence against the teachings of Islam why NO ISLAMIC DECREE or fatwa has been passed against them declaring them non-muslims and their act Un-Islamic ?

Becoz of these terrorist Jehadis [?] the non-Muslims are linking violence with Islamic teachings. This is very unfortunate.

Assalaam-u-alaikum brother Jaffar, suicide bombing is not part of Islamic teachings. Suicide bombers are those people who want to see others unhappy because they are unhappy. It is a very selfish and celf-centred strategy deviced by IBLEES the accursed.

Suicide is against Islam and the Quran says that if you commit suicide you will continue the act for eternity.

So those what bomb themselves will blow up over and over till the end of time

Quote Muhammad all you want. The fact is that suicide bombings ARE being used in the name of Islam around the world.

I'm glad YOU don't believe in it or participate, however there are many others that share your religion and interpret it differently.

So, regardless of the old books- it IS part of Islam today.
I don't hold you personally responsible.

No it is NOT. Islam forbids one to commit suicide. Period!!
Those who do it are complete idiots and do not have any knowledge of their own religion. Infact they don't have any knowledge of anything at all. It's people like stupid osama bin laden who not only make it difficult for themselves in this world but for other muslims too.
Tarzan lived among the animals and so he was one of them, not knowing what was like living like a human actually. It is the same with these suicide bombers, they don't know what Islam actually teaches them, they are not even taught to understand Quran, how are they supposed to understand what Quran actually tells you to do. They are told that killing yourself is going to lead you to paradise, so they do it, hoping to be in heaven when they die!

I do not believe that people like 'AJ' are correct.
All the quotes are misunderstood by the readers.

In the Bhagawat Gita, Lord Krishan encouraged Arjuna to fight even if it meant killing his own relatives. Arjuna was told that this would be right as he was fighting for a just cause.

EVEN THEN the Hindus do not go around killing anyone else or even one another.

Muslims kill their own everyday. Why?

I agree with 'Infinity' saying:

"May be it is the curse of God that they should wipe themselves out by killing each other for their sins in killing people who refused to convert to Islam."
